    Today is the day!!

I'll 3rd, or 4th or whatever, the SS 1.2 Steve has put together a great kit. I was able to install it myself mostly smoothly. The rear was definitely harder than the front, but doable by one person with fairly common mechanic's tools, ie breaker bar, torque wrench, sockets, jack and stands, etc...

Absalom's Cookie Cutter 4runner Builds - New and Updated!

nice thread. Thanks for compiling these. I am finishing up installing an SS 1.2 on my 98. I saw this as valuable to get an idea of what other upgrades I can combine with it. :hatsoff:

NE WA Toyota Dealers (Colville and Spokane)

I currently live in Colville. We're moving south, but that's a different story. :p Colville is a very small town, ~3500 people, but I was happy that we have a Toyota dealer here. They suck. I've bought a few parts there, but we've had bad experiences with both sales and service. First, my wife...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Yesterday I mapped out half of the electrical connections for the new passive keyless entry and remote start security system I'm installing. I had the problem with the steering column lock camshaft breaking, so rather than spend $250+ to buy the whole assembly, I cut it off and will just stop...

    Wikkis 98 Limited Build

Thanks. I don't have spacers. I do still have the stock chrome bumper. I think I have the same size tires. LOL As soon as I started typing that I realized I'm not sure  I'll check at lunch. Thanks

    Wikkis 98 Limited Build

Your 275/75R16's are rubbing? huh... I wonder if I'm going to start rubbing. I put the same springs, I think, in the back of my 98, but I have the Tokico struts. I haven't taken it out and flexed it yet. Guess I'll go test before I go far.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Got the rear end of my SS 1.2 installed this weekend. Yes, I am slow :p I had hoped to get all 4 done, but quickly realized Saturday that wasn't gonna happen. My '98's ass was sagging bad. It added ~5-6" of lift :biggrin2: I knew it was gonna be a lot of lift when I was done. When I put the...

    Editting post question

I'm about to start modifying my 4Runner, so I'd like to create a 'build thread' or journal. I have a question about editing posts. I've been on other forums where I can only edit my posts for a limited amount of time. If that's the case here as well, then I may want to hold off until I complete...

BrianSD_42 Photo Journal Build Maintenance Thread

Hi Brian You have a nice 4Runner :thumb: Our stories have a lot of similarities... You bought your '97 in '03 with 68k. I bought my '98 in '02 with 69k. :high5: While I bought mine in Flagstaff, AZ, I did attend SDSU in the 90's  Mine is still mostly stock, but this is the year I'm...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Today I, so far, I have fashioned a couple jumpers to bypass the 2 key sensors in the steering column's 'upper bracket assembly'. Yesterday, I cut off the bracket that holds that POS 'upper bracket assembly' to the steering column. (see this thread for why...

    Ignition Lock Cylinder Housing Question

Nevermind. If anyone else runs into this issue, the part # is 45280. The numbers after vary by model. Toyota still wants to sell me the entire "upper bracket assembly" :mmph: The local dealers want $300! I've decided to just eliminate the steering wheel lock completely. I removed the...

    Ignition Lock Cylinder Housing Question

sorry about reviving an old thread, but I have this same problem :( That shaft behind the lock cylinder broke. I've been trying to find a diagram of that assembly (I downloaded the FSM), but I can't find one anywhere. Anyone know the part # I need? Or even better, a link?

    Finally upgrading my 98!

I've been a lurker for a long time, but this is my first post. We bought our 98 back in 2002 with 69,000 miles from the dealership in Flagstaff, AZ. It started out as my wife's daily driver, and has went back and forth a couple times. It's come back to being 'my truck' for good. She recently...
