    Has anyone regretted upgrading to GX 460?

    Pro tip: buy the GX lightly used and skip the 1st owner depreciation, great value for the $$ buying used.

    Limited tire swap to 17s?

    They are FJ Cruiser wheels, I can't remember the year/trim though. There are very similar 4Runner wheels but they are silver instead of gunmetal. No fender trimming to make them fit, but depends on how big you go for tires I guess. Ride quality was greatly improved over the 20's.

    Has anyone regretted upgrading to GX 460?

    I just have a couple comments on your pro/con list between the 2 contenders: 4Runner -Con: v6 with 5 speed is underwhelming. - Adding a Sprint Booster of Pedal Commander to recalibrate the drive by wire makes a HUGE difference in how the 5th gen 4Runners drive, goes a long way to bridge the gap...

    8.2 in a GX questions.

    I'm still running the 8.0" in mine, but I've seen several threads on the GXOR FB group regarding the swap. Probably the best place to search for this kind of thing.

    For those who bought vehicles without financing.. Question

    When we bought the wife's 5th gen 4R, it was a used vehicle, and we actually did go with financing to secure a better price, waited the 3 payments the dealership needed to collect their kickback (as discussed with them), and then paid off the rest of the financing.

    2010 4RUNNER Running boards will not fit from other 5th gen 4runners

    2010-13, Sr5 and all years Limited trim had the taller rocker panels that hang lower off the bottom of the truck. The other option is to convert to '14+ SR5 rockers, and use the steps you already purchased, which will sit a few inches higher off the ground.

    4th gen -> 5th gen advantages

    My old Hilux Surf had the multi-mode TC, I really liked the versatility it provided. I don't know that I've ever been in a V6 4th gen, I didn't realize that's the TC they came with, good info.

    4th gen -> 5th gen advantages

    5th gen Limited is still full time 4WD/AWD with locking CDL, same as the 4th gen V8 4x4's. V6 4th gens were only part time 4WD as well, only the V8's were full time (and possibly limited trim, not sure on that). I have a GX470 (basically a 4th gen V8), and had a 5th gen Limited at the same...

    How are the Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro Driving Lights?

    OEM low beams do suck, converting to HID low beams helps a LOT. DD SS3 fogs are also amazing, the beam is very wide, and horizontal beam pattern that you can aim to come in just below your low beams, they do a great job of lighting up the ditches for rural night driving. I had the Pro's in...

    What would you replace a 5th Gen with?

    I replaced our '15 4R Ltd. with a '15 GX460 Luxury with nearly the same mileage (within 5K kms), nearly the same color (both shades of grey), and it was nearly the same price (within $1500 plus incidentals associated with the purchase, transport costs, etc). It's what we should have bought in...

    Hilux Surf 3.0L Diesel are they worth buying

    According to Wikipedia, 5th gen Hilux's ran from '88-97, 6th gens from '97-05 with a facelift in '02. As they are a different model from the Tacoma, they didn't follow the same timelines from generation to generation. I have never seen a LHD Toyota Hilux in those years, they have all been RHD...

    Retrofitting garage door overhead button in 2020

    If that's the case, it could be in the canbus circuitry that kills power to that circuit, or it could be a different homelink module than earlier models, but my money is on canbus differences. If you look up part #'s for each you can confirm if the homelink is the same.
