Hilux Surf 3.0L Diesel are they worth buying

If the Hilux is from Japan, then it's going to be RHD. If it comes from the middle east, then it will be LHD. Any reason why you want to get a Hilux when the Toyota Tacoma is available in Canada and the US. Parts and service won't be difficult for the Tacoma.

Hi do you know anything about importing a 1996 -1998 Toyota Hilux into BC Canada. I know we can bring vehicles that are older then 15 years but I’m worried about emissions and having to do modifications to get it insured. Also whats the best country and website to import from. Also do you know if they are available right hand drive.

According to Wikipedia, 5th gen Hilux's ran from '88-97, 6th gens from '97-05 with a facelift in '02. As they are a different model from the Tacoma, they didn't follow the same timelines from generation to generation.

I have never seen a LHD Toyota Hilux in those years, they have all been RHD in my experience, so finding a LHD to import is going to be a challenge.

Unless your province includes emissions testing it should just need to pass an out of province inspection, but the requirements vary from province to province, so I'll let you research what's required locally to you.

Just scooped me a RHD turbo 3gen with a 3.0 diesel here in the states. Legal Virginia title. (Now is our time for 3rd gens, 25 years old)

I’m allllll excited. She is pretty clean and rust free. Looks well maintained.

You can see them at the Duncan site or the Japanese classics JDM site. The JapClassics folks are annoying but they got clean (over priced) trucks for suckers like us. I got mine elsewhere cause they didn’t have manual and told me it would be a while and a pretty penny when they did get one.

Thinking about selling This unicorn Vs keeping.
