With the exception of LTX M/S2's and 5100's my 5th gen is bone stock. Never been in standing water and only light 4wd use.

After driving for a couple of miles I could hear a faint "growl" from the front of the vehicle. I could also feel a distinct vibration in the steering wheel. I put the truck on a lift and spun both front wheels. I could feel the same vibration in the spring on the left side.

Hopefully not a sign of things to come. My front left wheel bearing was shot at 63,000mi. :mad2:

Ltx m/s2!!! Agree 100% Just put a set on my 5th gen last week and love them. My mother has a set of M/S2's on her 4th gen with 67k on the set and they still look new. Not the least expensive option but an option which you will be happy with for a very long time.

How many total miles on the clock? Should try cleaning the MAF sensor. Also may not hurt to replace the o2's as well.

Absolutely! I just bought my first 4runner for this reason. Traded in an 07 Yukon. I am happy to be getting 19-20mpg in my t4r!
