    MPG on your 3rd Gen?

I've got a '99 Ltd. all stock. Had a complete tuneup, wires, plugs, oil change, throttle body, (cleaned), transmission flushed, new bearings/seals in rear end, fuel filter, air filter, flushed power steering fluid, and new exhaust from cat. back, bled brake lines, and fresh brake fluid. With all...

    Transfer case rebuild question

Ok, my TC actuator motor failed. After pulling the TC and motor, found the fork to engage the gear(s) had a nylon tab broken off. Bought a new fork, reassembled, then noticed that the small spine gear does not fully engage into the larger hub. So the new actuator motor, (shaft) will not lock in...

    Hood latch question

I've seen a few posts about a sticking hood latch, (right side) looking down on it. Hood releases, but cannot close, (need to use a screwdriver to push down the latch). I have used PB Blaster/Aerosol Degreaser to free uo the latch, but it seens as if the mechanisim may be worn out. My question...

Transfer Case Actuator Motor is SHOT!!!

Thanks for looking. My mechanic, (trusted), informed me that my actuator motor is junk. It is going to be costly! Do I trust a salvage yard find to save some money, or just go with new? It's pointless to have 4WD, and not beable to use it, as well as the resale value is tanked. Anyone out there...

Noise coming from the under carriage

I am not a mechanic. I mentioned the fuel pump as a possible cause only by experience on a Chevy product I once owned. On the Chevy, I heard the high piched whinning, and as luck had it, it failed in my garage. Not trying to send you on a wild goose chase, just offering another opinion. My...

    why do i have nipples?

Based on my current employment, (plastic injection molding) they are "gates. A gate either allows the molten glass/plastic to enter/leave the mold. Can't speak for glass, but in plastic the gates are attached to runners. If you think of it as a tree, branches are runners, parts are the leaves...

    Sweet strawberry milkshake, FML....

Strawberry Mikeshake Is this a common issue to Off Highway use, Trailer pullers, Hot climate, or just something that happens to 4Runners? Without adding a stand alone tranny cooler, what can one do to prevent this.

Is My '99 Safe? Rear Axle Housing Rust.

Thanks for the input. I spent an hour or so under looking it over. Most of what I saw was not flaking rust but peeling of the factory coating. But my LTD has a scheduled appointment this week, and I'll get a better view and opinion on the rack. BTW, it spent it's first 3 years in N. Carolina...

Does this happen to any of you guys?

I've got that, on the rear drivers side. It's halfway up in an area where you would think water/ice/salt would run off. I have not decided what to do just yet.

Is My '99 Safe? Rear Axle Housing Rust.

My '99 LTD has a rusty rear axle housing, with scaling, but no leaks or seepage. My question is will I be safe transporting my family? Has anyone had an axle housing deteriorate to the point it actually broke? It appears this is common in the states that use salt, however, my '99 Dakota that has...

    Tire issue, input, opinions needed

My '99 LTD has 2 sets of different tires on front and rear. The rear tires are Kelly Safari Signature P265 70R 16, and the fronts are Dunlop TG35 Grand Trek P265 70R 16. Both sets are almost new, and may have been purchased and mounted at the same time. I have no issues with either set. I do not...
