    1996 4Runner 2.7 4x4- $7500 Nanaimo BC

Build Thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/144822-1996-4runner-3rz-4x4-build.html I'm going to school and have to sell my baby... I'm super bummed about it, but what can I do.. Built it to be my BC Safari vehicle but never even got the chance to wheel it. 1996 Toyota 4Runner 2.7L...

2nd gen aftermarket parts compatibility question

I can say for certain that the front lift from a 2nd gen will not work, as the earlier trucks use a torsion bar type suspension, versus our coil overs. I'm not sure about the rear lift, but I suspect it wouldn't fit. Perhaps someone else will have feedback there... The 2nd gens also came with...

Tacoma rear bumper on a 4Runner.. Is it possible?

Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it. I went back to the wrecker with a tape measure and you're right- quite a bit of cutting involved to make it not look dumb.

What's a single mom to do?

I agree with the above 4cyl suggestions. Mine is great and I average about 9.5l/100km (I think thats about 25 US mpg, isn't it?) The difference isn't huge between that and the V6, but any savings will add up for sure. Good luck on your search!

Tacoma rear bumper on a 4Runner.. Is it possible?

Yeah, I think you're probably right. I feel like the Tacoma bumper would just be super wide on the 4Runner, as the 4Runner is recessed into the sides of the truck.

Tacoma rear bumper on a 4Runner.. Is it possible?

Final Bump! Does anyone have any experience with Tacoma bumpers on a 4Runner?

    Overpriced?

Yeah, like I said, make sure the maintenance is done and documented. Under 200k seems like decent mileage to me, really. My truck just rolled 250k and runs great. I bought it at 200k, but it was owned by a dealer tech so has documentation. I paid 7000 for it, but it needed tires and an exhaust...

    Overpriced?

10 grand is a little bit much, but BC has crazy high prices for Toyotas. If it were me I would go check it out.. If the owner has lots of documented maintenance and the undercarriage is relatively rust free (the GVRD salts the roads like crazy, as I'm sure you know) I might offer 8000 and walk...

    1996 4Runner 3rz 4x4 Build

The only thing on my truck that really bothered be was the huge dent in the rear bumper left graciously by the previous owner. I decided it was time to do some bondo-ing. Most of the bolts that mount the rear bumper to the truck were pretty corroded so I had to be careful to avoid rounding the...

    1996 4Runner 3rz 4x4 Build

Got around to doing my annual rust prevention stuff. Focused on the skid plates- all of which were looking a little rough. I pulled everything off, wire brushed away rust, cleaned everything with acetone, painted on rustproofing and applied an epoxy based paint. I've not used the epoxy paint...

Tacoma rear bumper on a 4Runner.. Is it possible?

I found a pretty nice rear tube bumper on a 1st gen Tacoma at the auto wrecker the other day.. Nice rock guards on the sides and everything. I'm wondering if the frame width/box width of a Tacoma is the same as the 4Runner so I could modify the mounting brackets and make it work. Has anyone else...

8 Port 3rz Hot Start Issues

Thanks for the response. I guess if the distributor is too far advanced it could cause some sort of pre-ignition that could result in tough hot starts. I've messed with it before and will do so again. I still feel like it could be a sensor somewhere though.. My exhaust is pretty ratty, so could...
