Tacoma rear bumper on a 4Runner.. Is it possible?

I found a pretty nice rear tube bumper on a 1st gen Tacoma at the auto wrecker the other day.. Nice rock guards on the sides and everything. I'm wondering if the frame width/box width of a Tacoma is the same as the 4Runner so I could modify the mounting brackets and make it work. Has anyone else done something like this?

Could you make it fit? Probably with the trimming you talked about.

However, the 4Runners hatch makes it impractical for the amount of modifying you will need to do. They are roughly the same width, though IIRC the tacoma is wider compared to the 4Runner with no bumper

Yeah, I think you're probably right. I feel like the Tacoma bumper would just be super wide on the 4Runner, as the 4Runner is recessed into the sides of the truck.

I know this isnt really on topic but heres a 3rd gen with a tacoma front bumper. I read that there was a good bit of cutting and what not.

Frame mounts are different and the overall profile isn't the same. You could probably make it work but for the time involved to do so, you would be better off just buying a bumper for the 4Runner or making one from scratch.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it. I went back to the wrecker with a tape measure and you're right- quite a bit of cutting involved to make it not look dumb.
