Signing off - thanks to all

Well it's that time. I have traded in my 05 4Runner so I won't be visiting here any more. I didn't do a whole lot of posting, but I found some real good info here when I had repairs to do. Decided it was time to trade in the old girl. Lots of little things going. It had 162,000 miles on the...

Tailgate latch - won't stay latched

OK, sorry another tailgate latch question lol. Here is what mine is doing. When I close it, it pulls the door down, then releases it again. So it humms once to close it, then humms again when it releases. So it never stays latched. I have disconnected the battery, removed it and lubed it...

Question on towing and rear brakes

I checked the trailer brakes last night and they ARE working. I jacked up a side at a time and spun the wheel while my wife pushed the button on the controller and they activated. So I know they are good. They might just need to be increased.

Question on towing and rear brakes

Well I drove the truck to work today and there are no hot brakes. So... I'm not sure why they're ok now. I'll keep an eye on them.

Question on towing and rear brakes

Hey gang - long time no post haha. This is going to be a long question so bear with me. So I have a 2005 SR5 V6 and I am planning on towing a pop-up camper this weekend and I am getting ready to do that. It's a fairly large popup with like 2700 lb dry weight, so probably around 3000 lb all...

    Tricking the rear gate ECU

Is there a way to 'trick' the rear window/liftgate ECU into thinking the window is all the way up? My regulator is rusted away and I can't replace it at this time but would like to have the wiper if possible. I have had to block the window in the up position for now. I have read this thread...

Tensioner Pulley Assembly - Can the pulley itself be just replaced?

    my idler bearing replacement thread

The tensioner is about 60 - 70 bucks and the idlers are about $30 - 40 depending on which ones you get. This is from Rockauto.com. The only thing is with the tensioner, you have to buy the whole tensioner, you can't just get the pulley.

no. I was not able to find the bearing anywhere. Special size used (only by?) Toyota. I didn't ream the bushing. It had the proper ID.

one thing I forgot - I had our machine shop at work make me a round cylinder to press the new bearings in. It was just a little less in diameter then the bearings. You don't want to press on the inner race.

    my idler bearing replacement thread

Just did this a couple weeks ago, so I figured I'd post a thread on it since I took some pics along the way. Background - took a look at the drive belt and noticed uneven wear, so I removed the tension and checked a couple of the idlers. Sure enough they were loose, not a ton but a little...
