    Dumb Question

I "assume" that all (or almost all) of the nuts, bolts, fittings, etc. on my '07 are metric, but since my "assumer" is so often wrong, I'll ask a dumb question: are they?

    Another New guy question

Just a quick post to say THANKS to those who helped, either by their response to this post or by their advice on other posts I found via the search engine. I bought a plain vanilla 2007 SR5, 4x4, 50k miles. Not in Certified program, but exceptionally clean, 1 owner, full service record, new...

HELP, Clunking noise on test drive, newbie needs advice.

Okay, here is what happened to me when I test drove an '06 Sport. When I got in, the selector switch was set on 4H. After starting the engine, with the shift lever in park, I moved the selector to 2H and started off. When we had gone 50 yards or so, now up to 5+mph, we hear a...

    Another New guy question

cg...that is a good price, have not seen a 4WD that good. Have been looking at Toyota Certified, first one I test drove, an '06 Sport 4WD, had some clunking in the 5 to 30 mph speed range. It was set in 4H when I got in, I reset it to 2H, and noticed the clunk-clunk-clunk as I drove away, I...

    The REAL STORY??????

I'll readily admit that I have no special knowledge about this situation, what I do have is a couple of questions/observations. 1) How prevalent is the electronics problem? How many documented cases of sudden uncontrollable acceleration have there been? Yes, one death is to many, but a fair...

    Another New guy question

Jedi and others, re price.....bear in mind that I am primarily focused on finding a 4WD Limited model, if I can, they are scarce. That being said, I agree that the Carmax prices seem high. The research I have done indicates that (using 2006 model year and 50,000miles) Limiteds are +/- $3300...

    Another New guy question

Thanks again for replies. I am continuing the search, the price on the '06 is 20,000. Bam, I am a bit suspicious of Carmax, but I have friends who have had good results with them. I like the Limiteds, and they have the only 4wd Limiteds within 200 miles. The great thing about feedback is...

    Another New guy question

Forum members were kind in sharing opinions on my only other post, I am looking for help again, hearing the thoughts of others helps. I am back in a buying mode as it looks like my F250 will sell soon. There are two vehicles that fit my criteria, both are 4wd and are at Carmax, the '06 I...

    More Trouble for Toyota/Lexus!

Lets see, GM is owned by the Feds and UAW, UAW owns the feds, including Ray LaHood......could they use Toyota's problems? Think it was Rahm Emanuel who advises not to let a perfectly good crisis go to waste.

Thanks again to all. In reply to Desmo. The 06 limited is exceptionally clean, easily 9.5 in your terms, the 08 sr5 is clean but using the same scale, 7.5 at best. These are both at carmax (the only 4wds within 100 miles of NW side of Houston), and so you expect clean and no carfax issues...

andyman, Both are V6's. Thanks for replies, others would be appreciated. I gather from reading this forum, I should probably have the full transmission service done immediately on the high milage vehicle, if I go that direction.

    New guy looking for opinions

Here is the background. I have driven full size pick ups for years, currently a 2005 F250 diesel 4x4. I really do not need this size and power any more, and based on specs a 4Runner should fit my needs. Because going down in size is still a bit of a question mark for me, how much I spend on...
