    4th Gen vs 3rd Gen

I have a 1999 SR5 with 265k but lot of frame rust, few months back got a 2007 4runner Limited 128k. there's some tradeoffs. the 2005 and less v6 could blow head gasket. get 06 or higher. Look for rust...its the enemy. XREAS suspension...to replace it is $4000... Make sure it handles well on...

    CV Axle Play

note that I had replaced LCA and had this all loose and let it hang down, it came out a bit. maybe I didn't get it reseated enough?

    CV Axle Play

Im getting a whine noise and a replacement CV (came with the used 4runner I bought) leaks a little grease on the inside boot small end. I noticed this one has a little play/noise when moving the wheel vs factory Toyota which has no play. Wondering if re-pack with grease help or just replace...

Does your 4th gen blow all over the road?

like to hear the result. noone has noted a problem with UCAs, but they are original. guess it's possible something worn. Toyota service test driver did not think there was anything funky going on but to me, it wanders. maybe it's how these things operate...

Does your 4th gen blow all over the road?

new suspension and links and lca's. What did you mean by the large cross section...e.g. it's the design? 3rd gen did not handle like this

Does your 4th gen blow all over the road?

dang, sounds like these vehicles are touchy...kinda what yota dealer said...could be tires, although my tires were good... Michelin LTX. What kind of tires you running now? I had caster angle bumped up to 3.9 and it's better, still not where I think should be.

Make sure your axle breather is free...or blow out your seals

this video really helped. I POR15'd the underbody and plugged up this little breather thing. Well...rear seals and bearing start blowing out and making noise. I believe they are related. Make sure this pressure release is free. Toyota Rear Axle Seals Leaking The Fix - YouTube or else...

Reboot Inner CV boot with it still on?

drivers side (replacement) CV Boot leaked fluid on the narrow end because it wasn't installed right, there's a kink in the clamp...so grease oozed out. is it possible to loosen clamps, repack and reinstall with new clamps...with it all attached? looking to save time. I suspect the cv joint is...

Does your 4th gen blow all over the road?

Its stock height. I'm glad to hear others have the same problem. It's at 3 so I hope can get it to 5 range and fix it. That's exactly what I told the last shop that did the alignment but they didn't get the message. I'm having it realigned at Toyota stealer to see what magic they can do.

Does your 4th gen blow all over the road?

That sounds right on to me, horrible is a good descriptive. It was a 2 then 3, it's better at 3. I suspect need lot more. I hope can be done with stock UCA's.

Does your 4th gen blow all over the road?

tires Michelin tires have good tread. Toyota suggested a stiffer tire may help, but thought these were good tires.

Does your 4th gen blow all over the road?

I get a lot of instability at high speed and especially worse in wind, like 15mph and it blows around as if pressure ubilds up and then is released and washes the other side. Just had alignment done, caster angle 3deg. Max of specification is 4 deg caster. Would adding more caster address this...

    4th Gen 4Runner stuck in 4lo

Have not had the problem and sounds like a trip to the Toyota dealer. My thought though when I see screwy electrical problems is...shorted wires...especially at that age. Cheapest past his let Toyota figureit out then determine who you want to fix it.
