how to get an old car drivable?

Every fluid you can find should be changed, spark plugs & wires, belts, grease everything, check the fuel tanks, fuel lines, fuel pump, brakes, brake lines, wires and on and on... You're basically looking at 25+ years or routine maintenance that hasn't been done. I'm going through the same thing...

    Convertable

Looks good. In fact, it reminds me of the project I just picked up :biggrin2:

Sounds good, I'll keep an eye out for you. The Bronco decided to have some trouble delivering fuel to the carb yesterday as I was driving around Hamburg in Lexington. I think the fuel pump is shot or I've got a tiny hole in a line sucking air. Not a huge deal, just have to wait till Friday to...

Yep, seen your truck several times then, nice looking. Can't wait to see it rolling on 35's. Honk next time you see me.

Good score. Craigslist is the best thing going, found a couple of motorcycles on there and this Bronco. Yeah, on campus every day of the week. Usually over at Straton most days. If I'm on the main part of campus I park in the Alumni lot. Just look for the silver lifted 4th gen with...

Nice tires, where did you get them from, local or ordered? I'm putting some weak sauce 235/75/15 Goodyear Wrangler's on the Bronco for the time being. The ones that are on there now I wouldn't trust above 50mph or for longer than the next month. I'll wait to put some decent rubber on there...

Ha, that's sweet. What kind did you go with? I'm hoping to have the Bronco up here next week. Going to spend all weekend turning the wrenches, changing the fluids, putting some new tires on it and hopefully get it registered early Monday so I can drive it around.

It's going to stay close to stock as it can be. I may put a 1-2" lift on it just to put some slightly bigger all terrain tires on it. Other than that it'll get fresh fluids, seals, brakes and all the other routine maintenance that hasn't been done in over 10 years. The door posts and floor...

    Meet the Hulk!

Well the '73 Bronco I had found local was sold before I could go pick it up. Turns out it was the greatest thing that could have happened. Found this '74 about an hour east of Knoxville. This Bronco is completely original. It has a 302 that purrs like a kitten and a clutch that is as smooth as...

    Quick towing question.

Thanks Chris for the quick response. It turns out UHaul won't let me do it though. They say that my 4Runner has to weigh 750lbs more than the Bronco per DOT regulations. I should have told them I'm picking up a Honda Civic or something. I may call another one and fib to them, they'll never know...

    Quick towing question.

Sorry, guys searching/posting from my phone so it's a PITA to search. I'm picking up a '74 Bronco today and am wondering if my 4Runner will pull it back on a tow dolly? I know a trailer would be better, but nobody seems to have a trailer all of a sudden :ybrick: I have an '03 sport with the...

    My 03' Build Thread

It's really an easy job, especially if you don't have XREAS. The 4Runner will look like it should once it's on there.
