Quick towing question.

Sorry, guys searching/posting from my phone so it's a PITA to search.

I'm picking up a '74 Bronco today and am wondering if my 4Runner will pull it back on a tow dolly? I know a trailer would be better, but nobody seems to have a trailer all of a sudden :ybrick:

I have an '03 sport with the towing package. I'm pretty sure it would do it, just wanted some other opinions before I take off down the road.

It should be fine. A dolly is light, the small Bronco's aren't that big (and they're very cool:bigok: !). I would think your total towed weight would be just under 5k.

-The dolly should have brakes.
-All 8 tires on the road and any spares should be topped off.
-The t-case on the Bronco should be placed N. If for some reason there's no N then remove the rear driveshaft if it's an auto trans.
-Drive easy and if you notice it shifting up&down a lot put it in 4 instead of D. Running w/the tach in the high 2's or even the low 3's is better for the vehicle than constant shifting.

Thanks Chris for the quick response. It turns out UHaul won't let me do it though. They say that my 4Runner has to weigh 750lbs more than the Bronco per DOT regulations. I should have told them I'm picking up a Honda Civic or something. I may call another one and fib to them, they'll never know, right...

It looks like the Bronco weighs 3387 - 3547lbs. The lightest 4th gen is 42xx lbs IIRC Oh well... Maybe the Bronco just became a Civic or borrow a pick-up to pick up the dolly.
