    power antenna question

My 2001 sr5 had a power antenna that raised and lowered with the power to the radio. The antenna "died" and I took it to a local car audio shop to be replaced. They replaced the antenna and claimed that the power function can only be activated by the power car being tunred on or the accessory...

    DAC switch engaged by mistake

Yikes-- somehow the DAC switch was engaged while driving down the highway. I only noticed because the light started to flash on the dashboard. There was not change in how the car was driving, so I suspect that the DAC can only be engaged in 4LO. The truck seems no worse for the mistake...

    Garmin 2620 v.s Magellin 700

I went thru the same research between the Garmin and the Magellan. Ultimately I couldn't justify the cost. While researching those two units, I read about a Garmin system that runs on a laptop computer. I forget the exact price-- between $125 and $150 Dollars-- I bought the Garmin GPS 18...

    Spare Keys

We're saying some of the same things. I believe the dealer said they program up to 3 additional keys to work with the computer. My concern was that they were programming two of the potential additional three that could be programmed. Although I've never lost multiple sets of keys, I didn't...

    Spare Keys

You want to really get the dealer riled? I am not sure if your 4Runner Sport has the chip in the keys, but here is what I have learned. When I bought my 1998 Toyota Avalon, the dealer had only one key at car delivery time . The dealer agreed to make me the two additional keys, but I aksed how...

    Rear liftgate bad struts

I started a similar post in the Maintenance forum a couple of weeks ago. Someone recommended partznet-- they have the lift supports for $117 each. I checked with Monroe, Delco, StrongAram and every other gas support co. I could find and I'm pretty sure there were some after market alternatives...

hitting my head on the rear door of my 2001 4runner

Come on some one must have an answer!!!! I have figured out that the part is called a lift support. I have yet to find an aftermarket part-- I've tried Strong Arm, Monroe, Delco, Sachs, etc. They all make gas charged lift supports, but only for t4r-s up to 2000. The price at the dealer...

    Help..my kid puked!

You can get Nature's Miracle at a pet store and it should do the trick. I think it has enzymes that break down "organic" stains. It works on both the stain and the odor.

    Running Boards

I tried the armor all during the summer and I thought it was a big mistake. The running boards got very slick.

hitting my head on the rear door of my 2001 4runner

The struts that lift the rear door on my 2001 4runner are giving out and not lifting the door high enough. I got pricing from the dealer and they wanted around $175 a piece for the parts. Has anyone had success with aftermarket brands? Does anyone know how these parts are rated? Is it by the...

The dreaded rattles...do they come back?

My 2003 ltd had the rattle in the headliner-- it seemed to be on the drivers side. The rattle seems have gone away after a six months of driving. I'm a little bit paranoid it may start again-- I'm debating about pushing for the fix in the tsb-- has anyone had the headliner rattle come and go...

    Silly question...

I hate the dust on the displays-- after reading so many detailing posts about microfiber towels I tried them on the displays-- they clean up the dust without smudges or scratches-- sometimes you need a bit of water on the towel, but it seems to work really well.

Vibration between 65 and 75ish MPH?

Has Toyota always done an alignment for free in the first 12k miles-- I'm getting close to 12k miles. I am not experiencing anything out of the ordinary-- and I'm an "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of person-- but you've got me wondering if I should have my alignment checked. Friends...

    Is X-REAS supension worth it?

the ultimate dumb x-reas question Ihave X-REAS on my 2003 V8 LTD. I didn't test drive a 2003 without it, but I do know it handles corners much better than the 2001 SR5 I drive all the time. Here's the question: how the heck do you say X-REAS? Is it X, R, E, A, S or is it pronounced kind...

    4th genners with V6 & V8...mpg's??

My 2003 V8 gets an average of 17-18 in mixed driving and 19-20 highway. It may sound crazy, but I've tried filling up after short highway trips to see if I can find an optimal mph / driving speed. Its an imprecise science because I'm not sure that I am really filling up to the same point...
