Do the 7 point plugins ever fail? My 4Runner is 7 years old and hasn't done a ton of towing, so maybe the plugin has gone bad. Is there a fuse in the 4Runner that could go, that would prevent trailer brakes and turn signals to not work? Thanks.

It's a camper, so I'd assume it would be around 3500lbs total. I've had people tell me that it's not needed and others tell me it's a must have. I guess I'll tow it around town a few times and see if it feels right. Thanks again.
