    T-Case bushing broke/fell inside case

I removed the t case shifter and noticed what I thought were metal shavings all around where the bushing is/was. It was mostly gone, with only a small section still intact. Im assuming it shouldn’t be that big of a deal, haven’t noticed any problems driving so far. But I was curious if this is...

The “I hope this one doesn’t catch on fire” build

Replacing the rear suspension is pretty easy as long as you remove the rear tie rods and panhard bar. I’ve only ever dealt with leaf springs. Putting a jack on top of a 2x4 on the top of the axle and raising it up into the bump stop made it easy to lower one side. Also I tried unbolting the...

The “I hope this one doesn’t catch on fire” build

Got the body lift and new suspension installed last weekend. She’s looking good! Right now we’re about 40” from ground to bottom of the fender. The rear end is about an inch and a half taller with Tacoma bilsteins and Tacoma eibach coils (year old w/ arb Bumper and winch) and Toytec superflex...

    Stiff steering after body lift

I loosened the pinch bolt a bit and then tightened it a bit. Steering seems fine! I only drove it a few hundred feet (lower panhard bolt just has a spare bolt wedged in there). I’ll get the rear end buttoned up this weekend and take her for a rip

    Stiff steering after body lift

I just put on the Toytec 1” body lift, now it’s hard to steer. I was kinda rough getting the 1” spacer in for the steering shaft. Didn’t rotate the wheel, was really only rough pushing the upper part of the shaft front and back to squeeze the spacer in. Couldn’t find anything on the search...

The “I hope this one doesn’t catch on fire” build

Good call. Fortunately it was in the middle of the night, so when it rolled down the highway completely engulfed in flames nobody got hurt. Unfortunately the movies lie when cars catch on fire and blow up. Nothing cool happens.

The “I hope this one doesn’t catch on fire” build

I finally started dumping money into my 4Runner so I decided it was time to make a build thread. I haven’t named my rig yet so for now I’m just hoping this one doesn’t catch on fire. 3 years ago my 1st gen 4Runner decided to burst in to flames while I was cruising the highway. Fingers crossed...

    Frozen clutch?

Yea I was just hoping it would be a freak easy fix. I'm guessing it's the slave, I just don't want to spend every night this week laying in the snow working on the truck

    Frozen clutch?

Yesterday I drove my 85 4Runner around no problem. This morning I went to start it up, the transmission was in 5th gear, push in the clutch, and she wouldn't turn over and she would lunge forward as I was trying to start it up. It was like the clutch pedal wasn't even pushed in. So I pull it out...

    Tips for fighting rust

So I recently bought a 85 4runner. The only issue it has is several spots of rust on the body. I'm stripping the entire thing down to fix dents and repaint. I'm considering trying out rust converters like por 15 to make the job easier. Does anyone have experience with por 15 and any rust removal...

    85 4Runner restoration/build

Lucky for me I totaled my 2004 Tacoma, and was able to justify buying my dream truck, an 85 4Runner. The original owner had done a few mods, lifted 3in, regeared to 4.56, 33's, winch, lights, custom bumpers and sliders. And the only problems were a welded diff, ugly interior, and some rust. My...

Stock toyota truck wheels painted black

I did that to my tacoma, and my friends ford. Its pretty easy, no different than painting anything else. I just took off the tire/wheel, sanded down the wheels, taped off the tire, and went to painting. Make sure you use primer first, and then your color, and then i use a clear coat. Just a tip...

About to buy a 1st gen

As far as a lift goes, i think ill run 1.5 in bj spacers, 63's in the rear, and then a 1in or 2in body lift. I think im looking for about 3 in of lift

About to buy a 1st gen

Ill probably go IFS. My current truck (ifs, 2.5 in lift, 33s) does fine where i live. I only take it on little trails for fun and looking at cool views. And I dont wanna get a bunch of trail damage. Ive never been a huge fan of slow rock crawling and what not. I just get bored and nervous about...
