Hello - 2004 SR5 V8 with 130K
About a month ago my rear hatch stopped unlatching when I pressed the release button and hauled up on it. I could still hear the motor working and the hatch would release a little but not completely unlatch so that I could open it. Eventually it worked and I was...
Hey, 2004 V8 SR5 4X4 with about 92K on the clock. Recently replaced the front and rear dampers with Bilstein HD's and the springs with FJ Cruiser springs.
The front feels great - but when going over bumps the rear feels very unsettled. It feel like it's bouncing all over the place, and like...
This is a good point, but at Rock Auto it looks like depending upon brand it's about $20 all told between 12.5 and 13.3 inch rotors and calipers.
So they'll still suck - but more swept area and a larger heat sink can't be bad.
Thanks all for your input.
So I'm not interested in the $2800 Stoptech system, but since I have 17 inch rims on the 2004 SR5 and have to replace everything anyhow - it is worth the little bit extra $$ to upgrade to the larger rotors and calipers from the Sports Edition?
Thanks!
Any links to posts on the topic would also...
Thanks! - I've been here before on a couple of my VW's so yes Liquid Wrench is my friend - especially on an older one that I sourced back home from the Maine Seacoast - talk about RUST!
I'll take a look at the parts mentioned - thanks for the pointers.
Thanks too for the link to the 5100 vs...
Hello, Just got a quote from a local shop for $851 for a strut/shock replacement - with bottom of the line Monroe shocks! Yikes - I figure a day (or less) of my time to do it myself makes good $ense!
I have a FJ replacement set up with about 6K on it, but was thinking about going with...
I'm starting to investigate suspension options on the 2004 SR5 V8. I've been doing some searching - but can't find a suspension sticky that offers a clearing house of info that answers my questions.
What I'm looking for is a stiffer than stock option with minimal height change. Except for an...
Hello,
So this is not a one time thing. I've disconnected the battery 3 times now (twice for the radio and once when I dropped the fuel tank). Each and every time the rear wiper and rear window defrosters stop working for a certain length of time...then presto they start working again...
Well it looks like I dodged another bullet! I plugged the VAGCOM in yesterday - sure enough #1 and # 8 Cylinder misfire. Ok so I'll only need to replace 2 injectors.... well gotta move it anyhow to pressure wash and seal the driveway, fire her up and cough cough - VROOM! So a bottle of...
So if I sawzall through the floor of the truck I can change that filter without dropping the tank again..... Brilliant design.
On the bright side the latest software update on my VagCom can read generic OBD II codes. Guess my Sa****ay is planned already.
So why can't I type Sa****ay without...
No filter in the 2004 model - at least I couldn't find one - and I disconnected all the fuel lines, dropped the tank and pulled the pump. There is a screen/pad system at the end of the fuel pump - but it looked pretty clean - plus I rinsed it with good gas.
I've run Sea foam through my older...
