Good info, thx. I was perplexed about ours not working recently and then as a last resort put the rear window down and then up, and voila it started to work again! I have been disconnecting the battery lately to clear a CEL issue, and that would seem to match the explanation given above. Mike

Alrighty, popped that bad boy off this past weekend and tightened up the Torx screws. That thing is really clipped on there. Used a longer screwdriver w/ a little wider blade. Mike

What type/brand of contact cleaner did you use?

What kind of weight distribution hitch are you planning to use? We used an Equal-i-zer 1000/10000 and it handled things great. Wind and semi's are always going to move you around somewhat, but anticipating them and experience makes it manageable and you a safer driver. Just keep the speed down...

I towed a Jayco Jay Flight 22FB (total length a little over 26') w/ a GVWR of 6K pounds. We were usually loaded up around 5K pounds. That's about as big as I would tow w/ mine (05, v8, factory tow pkg). It really sucked the gas up! About 58-60 mph was its sweet spot on level road. I don't think...

Forgot to mention that I am using a weight distribution hitch system w/ sway control, the Pro Series SC. The hitch is the Toyota factory hitch, rated at 7300# for weight distribution use. My question is the difference in payload capacity for the vehicle, as I'd like to throw a couple of kayaks...

Currently it weighs 4780 on its own. Tongue weight is 650 currently (weighed w/ a Sherline tongue scale). Planned passenger and cargo weight on the light side would be 350.

The Toyota Guide to Towing available from Toyota on the Web says a 2WD SR5 V8 GVWR is 5490, which matches my 2005's door jamb sticker. The towing guide also says payload weight is 1235#, which includes cargo and passengers. My owner's manual says payload weight is 950# for a 5-passenger model...
