rear winshield wiper & washer fail to operate

Good info, thx. I was perplexed about ours not working recently and then as a last resort put the rear window down and then up, and voila it started to work again! I have been disconnecting the battery lately to clear a CEL issue, and that would seem to match the explanation given above. Mike

VSC TRAC, skid mark, CEL on with P1445 code

For the past couple of months these lights have been coming on periodically on our 2005 2WD SR5 V-8 4Runner. I've been clearing the codes by disconnecting the battery and finally installed a new gas cap per other threads about this on the forum. The lights are still coming on only more...

    Passenger side mirror is vibrating

Alrighty, popped that bad boy off this past weekend and tightened up the Torx screws. That thing is really clipped on there. Used a longer screwdriver w/ a little wider blade. Mike

    Passenger side mirror is vibrating

Thanks R.A. I saw that hole yesrterday and stuck a small screwdriver in it thinking that may be the way to do it but the thing wouldn't budge. I'll give it another try. Mike

    Passenger side mirror is vibrating

Howdy, The passenger side mirror on my 2005 SR5 is vibrating a bit too much. It seems to be loose at the connection between the mirror housing and the arm to which it is connected to that attaches to the door (the swing pivot point). Is there a nut/bolt that I can tighten this up some and if...

Towing report with the V8 4Runner

What kind of weight distribution hitch are you planning to use? We used an Equal-i-zer 1000/10000 and it handled things great. Wind and semi's are always going to move you around somewhat, but anticipating them and experience makes it manageable and you a safer driver. Just keep the speed down...

Towing report with the V8 4Runner

Good luck w/ that mpg wish, even on flat land ;*) Ours got more like 7-8 mpg on moderately flat Central Texas and coastal Texas trips. We have a 23 gal. tank. The limit we hit was after tongue weight of 650# (I have a tongue scale so I know) and hitch head weight it only left us w/ enough...

Towing report with the V8 4Runner

I towed a Jayco Jay Flight 22FB (total length a little over 26') w/ a GVWR of 6K pounds. We were usually loaded up around 5K pounds. That's about as big as I would tow w/ mine (05, v8, factory tow pkg). It really sucked the gas up! About 58-60 mph was its sweet spot on level road. I don't think...

Toyota Towing Guide vs. Owners Manual Specs

Alrighty, I guess I'll take it to the public scale during the week and weigh it empty w/ a full tank of gas to determine whether the owner's manual is right, the Toyota Towing Guide is right, or neither :)

Toyota Towing Guide vs. Owners Manual Specs

Forgot to mention that I am using a weight distribution hitch system w/ sway control, the Pro Series SC. The hitch is the Toyota factory hitch, rated at 7300# for weight distribution use. My question is the difference in payload capacity for the vehicle, as I'd like to throw a couple of kayaks...

Toyota Towing Guide vs. Owners Manual Specs

Currently it weighs 4780 on its own. Tongue weight is 650 currently (weighed w/ a Sherline tongue scale). Planned passenger and cargo weight on the light side would be 350.

Toyota Towing Guide vs. Owners Manual Specs

The Toyota Guide to Towing available from Toyota on the Web says a 2WD SR5 V8 GVWR is 5490, which matches my 2005's door jamb sticker. The towing guide also says payload weight is 1235#, which includes cargo and passengers. My owner's manual says payload weight is 950# for a 5-passenger model...

Air Bag Helper Spring Pressure w/ Weight Distribution Hitch Towing

My hitch is very similar to an Equalizer. By initial setup procedure, do you mean when hitching up the trailer for travel (and then inflating the air bags), or do you mean when (in my case) the dealer shop installed the hitch, installed the brake controller, and we took it for a spin to make...
