Passenger side mirror is vibrating

Howdy,

The passenger side mirror on my 2005 SR5 is vibrating a bit too much. It seems to be loose at the connection between the mirror housing and the arm to which it is connected to that attaches to the door (the swing pivot point). Is there a nut/bolt that I can tighten this up some and if so, how do I get at it?

On the bottom on the mirror assembly, there is a pry away section. On the end nearest the vehicle there is a slot. Put a screwdriver in it and pry gently and it pops off.

Underneath the plate there are 3 Torx screws. I forget the size. Check to see if they are loose or if one or more is stripped.

Thanks R.A. I saw that hole yesrterday and stuck a small screwdriver in it thinking that may be the way to do it but the thing wouldn't budge. I'll give it another try.

Over time the mirrors will loosen up at that joint. I've had to "supplement" the padding that Toyota puts on between the mirror assembly joint. A piece of felt or similar material helps. If the Torx screws holes are stripped, then you can probably pull the unit off and rebuild the stripped hole.

On my present vehicle, someone put Muth mirrors on and one of the screw holes was messed up and the mirror vibrated badly. It didn't matter to me much cause I replaced both mirrors with heated/colored keyed mirrors.

Alrighty, popped that bad boy off this past weekend and tightened up the Torx screws. That thing is really clipped on there. Used a longer screwdriver w/ a little wider blade.
