Dropping the oil pan in a 3.0

clearance isn't a problem. I have a 5 inch lift. its the siphon inside that feels like it is keeping it from dropping and I wasn't sure if maybe the siphon was somehow attached. I have plenty of clearance underneath otherwise.

Dropping the oil pan in a 3.0

I had a bad seal in my 88 4runner so I'm dropping the pan to replace it. I have the bell housing unbolted and the pan is all unbolted. so I was ready to have it pulled and there is a hold up inside the pan. I belileve it is the siphon but am at a loss as to how to release it. do I need to pull...

    Spare part for offroading

I have a well set up off road kit that includes recovery equipment, fire exstinguisher, zip ties, duct tape, tool set, etc. I was just starting to look at how people were fixing their vehicles to get them out of the woods and thought this would be a good post to get people to talk about parts...

    Spare part for offroading

I was wondering if and what everyone brings for spare parts when going offroading or what type of items you bring to fix items that you think have a possibility of breaking. I ask this because I'm going up to Rausch Creek, PA in a month or 2 and want to be prepared. I have an 88 Runner with a 5...

    88 with 5" lift and 35s?

I'm running 35's with a 5 inch lift and yes the pinch weld and inside plastic fenders get in the way a little but they can be tweaked pretty easily. Mine is also an 88 v6 with stock gearing. It has pretty good get up and go. Just struggles on large hills over 60 mph. I personally like the 35's...

    88 host truck qualities

Depends on how much you want it. Obviously engine issues can get pricey depending on the engine but interior can be fixed up for cheap. I'd replace the power window doors with manual ones ie. new doors at a junk yard. As for the back window see if it just a sensor that isn't letting it roll up...

    I'm going to sell my t4r :(

Yah sounds like an idle issue. Check the idle screw first, second possibly the throttle body sensor (plenty of articles to explain how to check that). Following that You digress into just checking spark, injector flow, and intake (which you already check)

    Removable Doors

Anyone know what these connectors are?

Looks like it goes to the cruise control possibly. Does yours still work?

    Manual Transmission Q's

Few questions concerning the transmission system for my manual V6 88 4R. I have a leak in the seals where the transfer case and front drive shaft link up I think so I need to replace that. I also need to install breathers in the appropriate areas so I don't blow them out again. So my questions...

    Made my own Snorkel

Great simple build im doing the same thing on my first gen. Couple questions for you. First where did you find the steel? Second how did you cut out the side panel and make it look clean (or is it a crude cut and filled in with rtv and the pic just doesn't show it. Thanks for the build thread.

    Pulling Starter HELP

I just replaced mine and from my experience it wasn't bad at all, about an hour in total including getting the part. You attack it from the tire side and underneath. First take off the rear bolt to the engine mount (the one that will get in the way of pulling it out). After that just unscrew the...

    3VZ electrical issues

Well I checked the ohms coming out of the distributor and I'm not getting the correct readings so I'm gonna need new wiring for the internals of the distributor. Does any one here know where I can get the internal wiring for the 3.0 distributor to an '88? Doing some online searches and not...

    3VZ electrical issues

This will be a long description but hopefully it will help someone give me a diagnosis on why I'm not getting a spark on my 1988 3VZ 4runner. I hydrolocked the engine back this spring while off-roading. Put it up on blocks got a rebuilt 3VZ and put it in. I was expecting her to start right up...
