This will be a long description but hopefully it will help someone give me a diagnosis on why I'm not getting a spark on my 1988 3VZ 4runner.
I hydrolocked the engine back this spring while off-roading. Put it up on blocks got a rebuilt 3VZ and put it in. I was expecting her to start right up since it was just a simple engine swap but now I'm not getting a spark to the distributor. I initially thought it was the coil so I replaced that. Got nothing so I bought new wires, distributor cap, the little spinny thing inside the distributor, and because the ECU looked corroded and may have gotten water in it I replaced that too. Tried it again tonight thinking I have to be good to go, since I have pretty much replaced everything in this darn vehicle, but still don't have a spark. The only other thing I can think of is the igniter on top of the coil is bad. I think I'm getting the correct volts to the igniter from the plug (if anyone has the specks for the igniter plug so I can confirm that be cool but it seems to make sense using my volt meter). So that is where I'm at. If anyone has any advice I'm welcome to it. Even my mechanic friends are at a loss.
