I couldnt be happier with my General's. From what little off roading I do, they have held up great, I just wish I can test them in the snow this year as they are snow tires.

As a precaution I would look for the manufacture date of the tires. If they have been sitting for three years it begs the question of how old are they regardless of tread wear. Just another factor to help you be more indecisive :-D

1996 SR5 5spd 230k miles I am wondering if this would contribute to my poor gas mileage? I am avg 15mpg now after the miles/gallons calc at the pump each 3/4 week. I used to be able to get 18-21 mpg. I still need to check the O2 sensor, and if all else fails, clean the fuel injectors...

If it is not in the records, check the valve cover, there should be a sticker there saying when it was last done, if it was done. If you are at 240k w/o any timing belt replacements, I would be very very surprised, then very very worried. It is wise to do it ever 90k miles. So imho, do it now...
