You friend probably has E rated Falken tires and you should get P rated Falken Wildpeak AT3 since they only weigh 50lbs and it's more than enough for your application.

Elka owner here who drives a 4Runner as a daily driver and does occational off-roading. I contacted Elka about the frequency of maintenance and they recommend a rebuild every 50K miles based on my application.

Nitto TGs are okay in rain but they suck in snow. Keep your Nitto and get a set of snow tires if winter is brutal in your area.
