Good Deal? Looking to buy my first T4R

+1 We just got quoted almost $4K under MSRP at an Autonation dealer. I can't see buying used when new is so damn close the same price.

Would you buy a used 5th Gen Rental?

Went and looked at the rig last night... definitely beat to piss. No surprise I guess. Front and rear bumpers obviously repainted ("Toyota Certified" doesn't guarantee bumper collisions). Interior scratched to hell and missing trim pieces, scratches and dents all over the exterior. I always...

Would you buy a used 5th Gen Rental?

 Man, I even did a search for "rental"... and missed this. Thanks for the info, I'll check it out.

Would you buy a used 5th Gen Rental?

I can't say I didn't beat on rentals when I was younger... It looks like it was a rental in Orlando, so probably family rental to take to Disney. I thought of the fact that most renters would be families and not kids abusing the vehicle too. SUV's are pretty pricey to rent. I forgot to...

Would you buy a used 5th Gen Rental?

Looking at a 2013 5th Gen SR5 4X4, 3rd row, with 25K miles. Dealership is asking $29K Would you consider purchasing a rental? If so, what areas of the vehicle would you inspect? I've historically been hesitant to buy a rental, but the price is right. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

    New Gears Questioin

And for what it's worth, I wish I had deeper gears than the stock 3.73's and 285's, even with the V8. The 285's will kill your mileage with the stock gearing. Plan on 2-3mpg.

    New Gears Questioin

Aftermarket does not make 4.10 (at least the last time I checked), so you'll have to go 4.56's at least. 4.88's on 33's are too deep for a daily driver in my opinion.

    Trimming for 285s

You might need to dremel the body mount perches. It's almost impossible to know exactly where you'll need to trim until they're on. The inner fender wells were the biggest and it sounds like you've got those covered. I only needed to trim the body mount perch on one side. I barely had to...

    Daystar... Spidertrax... and Off Roading?

My advice is to take it on a trail (or even flex it out on a few curbs) and see. It's not going to rip your fender's off if that's what you're worried about. My 285's rub a little with the Spidertrax but not too bad after I trimmed a little. The biggest reason I added spacers was to clear the...

2006 Sport v8 worth the asking price?

The V6 doesn't have a timing belt. I personally wouldn't trust this guy and wouldn't waste my time. #1 rule in finding the right vehicle: BE PATIENT! The right rig will come along. Good luck!

Or this: 2006 4runner Don't shy away from private party sales. Good Luck!!!

    2006 sport v6 or 2005 sport v8

I think you should be patient and wait for a 4WD if that's what you want. I've learned that you'll always end up regretting the purchase later if you don't get exactly what you want. I think you can find a good rig, '05 or '06 for around $15K with 4X4 if you're patient. Maybe something like...

Good Place to get a factory air filter box

Unfortunately, they are expensive and most bone-yards know what they're worth. I had the same problem and went the K&N CAI route because it was about the same as buying a used air box. For a temporary fix, you can wrap zip-ties around the box. Post up wanted in the for sale/wanted section. I...
