Hope it's okay to butt in here but I need some help-same topic. Have a '86 4Runner SR5 that had Mile Marker manual hubs when we bought it. Took them off to service and found what looks to be auto hubs. Somebody slapped the manuals over the autos without taking out the auto hub brake...

went ahead and got the 06 tacoma wheels. They look pretty good. Black powder coating them would be awesome.

ya it looks like it. I just wasnt sure if the backspacing was different for 2006 tacoma wheels.

hmmm ok. Im going to have to look into the wheel specs some more and see if they'll fit.

What year of tacoma are your rims from?

will '11 17in. tacoma wheels work on my '86 1st gen? I think the backspacing on my stock wheels is 4.5 in. im not sure how much it is on the tacoma ones. heres the link to the craigs list site for the wheels. Toyota Tundra TRD wheels/tires

Thanks illzoni, sorry for the delayed response. We've looked into it a little more and found the chevy wheels have 5.5" backspace which will be too much it sounds like. Now we're trying to find a set of wheels to put the tires on and get them on the road. Also installing cut out style...

Got an 86 4runner a couple of months ago and just got some tires from my uncle. im wondering what size and specs of rims i need to get for the bigger 17 inch LT265/70R17 E BFGoodrich® All-Terrain T/A® KO . Any help/advice is gladly appreciated!

Thanks-any recommendations for all-inclusive "kits"? Also, just found coolant hose leak on short rubber hose above the alternator. Where can I find pre-formed replacements?

Stock height answer I'm pretty sure I saw the stock measurements in the Hayne's manual for 1st gen 4runners. I'm at work right now but can check later and post. If you have access to the Haynes check it out for your baseline reference numbers. Instead of measuring at the fenders I measured...

I have 86 4runner with 120000 miles. Is there a recommended mileage for replacing timing chain/guides prior to failure?

First time poster, long time reader(sort of). My son just bought his first car-one owner 86 4runner, 120,000 med blue/"autumn rust". Tops never even been off this thing! Runs and drives but charging light comes on and ammeter is bottomed out. Previous owner actually just had new alternator...
