Yes, just finally got around to stripping down the donor frame.

You can get one from trail-gear.com, or an fj60/62 arm will work with the splines on your IFS box.

Thanks, Aaron. I got that mill from someone you know, Carlos in Rye, CO. It's made all the difference lately. Way better than a conventional nitcher.

A rough idea of where the seat will be located in the cage. There will be an area behind the seats for backpacks, water bottles, camera bags, rain gear, etc. Tools, fuel cell, cooler, and recovery gear will go in the "bed".

Lots of good info in that last post. For every joint on this chassis that is over lapping another joint, the first is welded 100%, also. This is the only way to go. Even with the mill, sometimes you find yourself having to do a little hand notching.

Exactly, every tube is tied into multiple other tubes. When it's all done, you can't even tell where the joints are. Good discussion, I enjoy it.

This helps get the perfect notch.

Here's a few more from today. Nice area for fuel cell and cargo. This will be able to haul a good bit of camping gear, looking like 115" wheelbase. So far, only 2 bends, the notch method allows you to square everything up perfectly.

They're called nodes. Every one gets a slug, and multiple rosette welds to ensure they never seperate. It's very common, and necessary. The perimeter of this car will be over 30 ft of tube, an unworkable number for a few reasons. Also, it's much easier to ensure that the chassis is square an...

Here's a few pics of a fun little crawler buggy I'm building. It'll run toyota 22re engine, 5 speed r151f tranny, dual transfer cases, 4 link with air shocks front and rear and full hydraulic steering. It'll be a 2 seater, but the chassis is long, like an extra cab.
