One problem? Two problems? Where do I start.

Heck fourwd1, I think you're a genius. Truck did the no hot start thing in the parking lot, but I carry a strip of wire in the truck as my diagnostic tool :) jumped those ports and it fired right up. I'm going to try to repeat this a few times today, but this might be the right track. Thank you!

One problem? Two problems? Where do I start.

Yeah, I don't think its a fuel line leak. I spent some time under there yesterday with it running, looking for leaks. If its leaking, its at least not visible and I don't smell gas anywhere, like in the engine bay. I just replaced the filter two days ago. The previous one had only 12k on it or...

One problem? Two problems? Where do I start.

Hi guys, It's been awhile since I've been on this board. Shockingly, my 94 3.0, auto has been a pretty good vehicle for the last few months. It's getting ready for its 200k birthday in a few more weeks or 200k head gasket blow - time will tell. Unfortunately, it's reverting back to its old...

    Whole bunch of 22re codes

Okay, just ran through the ign stuff. I've got spark, wires check out, plugs look good, cap looks good. The coil pack is just a touch outside of spec. Not sure if its my problem, but I'll probably just replace it anyways. The air gap in the distributor is fine, but the pickup has way too much...

    Whole bunch of 22re codes

Whew okay, looked through the FSM a little less tired. I found the little section on the ignition stuff. At least I know how to test a few things now. Would it be reasonable to assume that all the codes are stemming from a single source, like a bad ignition part? Something along the lines of...

    Whole bunch of 22re codes

Hey guys! Haven't been on here awhile. Life and such got in the way. And my fleet of yotas have been performing wonderfully, until I got a check engine today on the 22re truck :yell: By the way, this is an engine with now about 1500 miles on it. Anyways gently drove it home and checked for...

    TPS Woes, 3vze

New TPS on and adjusted properly. My timing mark has become more stable, but it doesn't re**** when I jumped the diagnostic ports... What else causes problem with the timing jumper?

    TPS Woes, 3vze

Not that I'm aware of, but it has been 'cooking' for nearly 20 years on top of the engine. I would imagine its internals loose their oomph over time, but yeah, I expect more than one reading to be off. Talked to my mechanic today, and he said he would replace it, so I guess thats what I am...

Location of Fuel Filter in 87 22RE?

I also did the filter relocation. I know a guy that has had his like that for about five years. He hasn't had a problem and neither have I in the last year. Eventually, I think it would be nice to have one along the frame rail, like on the 3.0s.

    talk to me about shocks

If you can afford it, just buy Bilsteins. I have the heavy duty ones on my Tundra and at 110k, the original set still has life in them and they pass the shock bounce test at the mechanic every time. Granted I don't off-road my Tundra, but I really think that much life out of a set of shocks is...

    TPS Woes, 3vze

Yes, all the other resistances were correct.

    TPS Woes, 3vze

Okay, just spent the last hour freezing my arse off outside trying to test/adjust my TPS. All tests are good except for the one that has Idle to E2 at 0.8 mm. I can't get it to go infinitive. Well it does go infinitive, but when the throttle is already open like a half inch or so... So, is this...

    Low compression on rebuild

It was done by a builder. They put their engines on a simtest thing before they leave the shop. The print out for mine said like 35psi oil at 400 rpm and 180 psi compression on all four cylinders. To do the compression test, I took all the spark plugs out. Undid the cold start injector, undid...

    Low compression on rebuild

I had this engine built by a builder that has a pretty good reputation for 22re engines. For the break in, I was told to drive it harder than normal, but not too hard (builder's opinion). Basically, I push the truck as much as possible, vary the rpms alot. Not quite 'drive it like you stole it,'...

    Low compression on rebuild

So, after totally bombing the emissions test, I'm troubleshooting the new 22re again. The emissions test was totally bunk, the mech at the shop called me and I guess their sniffer was on the fritz, bad sensor inside or something. I'm bringing it back in next week to try it again. Anyways, due...
