    Half-Million Miles on 1997 Toyota 4Runner

I got 346,000 on my '95 Ford Explorer with all original drivetrain before the tranny finally gave out. My '06 T4R has 143k and I hope to get at least the same on it.

    aftermarket radio suggestions?

Alpine makes a tiny amp that can plug into their receivers and boost the output to 45watts RMS which is significantly higher than the stock output. If I were replacing the HU and not planning to add additional amps, I'd be looking at something like that so the speakers get more power (you'll...

How can I burn a DVD from a DVR?

You will most likely have to "capture" and then re-compress the video again as DVRs generally aren't going to have a way to access the digital source video. The easiest solution is to buy a DVD recorder (~$75 on Amazon) and hook it up with RCA cables and just copy between them. You still might...

4th Gen. Fiberglass 12" Sub Enclosure- SE VA

Interested. Is it custom made and do you know if it will interfere with the double deck cargo system?

    Noob question on price

I too was surprised at the price of the 3nd gens. I ended up with a 4th gen instead for not too much more than some of the 3rd I looked at (I just paid $13,600 for a '06 4WD Limited). Of course when you look at the original sticker price of some of these trucks, the price suddenly seems more...

    Aftermarket Speakers with stock headunit

Yes, because I plan on adding a new headunit, amp, and sub down the road. The speakers were just the first step of the upgrade. Also, upgrading my non-JBL speakers got rid of a nasty buzz I was getting in the low-frequencies when turning the music up load.

    Aftermarket Speakers with stock headunit

I just put Alpine Type-S components my T4R with stock non-JBL system and it sounds better, but not significantly so. I'd say about a 25% improvement. It's worth the money and hassle, but don't expect it to be crazy better.

    No sound after speaker upgrade

The factory plug that connects to the tweeter has four wires but two of these are wired together to complete the circuit and two go to the tweeter. I'm not using any of the wires as I wired everything to the main woofer connection. I simply cut the two wires off directly at the tweeter and...

    No sound after speaker upgrade

Did you not use the Alpine crossovers or did you just hook the bass blocker directly to the tweeter line instead of to the speaker?

    No sound after speaker upgrade

I figured it out! Turns out that the connector for the tweeter still has to be plugged into the factory wiring harness. I assume this is because it's wired in parallel?

    No sound after speaker upgrade

I bought some Alpine SPS-610C component speakers to replace the factory system in my non-JBL '06. I just finished the drivers side door after about two hours of cutting/drilling/fabricating to get everything to fit. When I plugged it in and turned on the stereo, there is no sound at all coming...

    2006 Limited in Nashville, TN

I bought my first 4Runner last week. It's 2006 V6 4WD Limited in grey and bone stock except for a Bull Bar. This is my first Toyota vehicle and I'm very happy with it. The only SUV I've owned previously was a 1995 Ford Explorer which was nice, but not nearly as refined as the 4R. The reason I...
