So I was incorrect about the code. The actual code is P1780 Park Neutral Position Switch Fault. I have tracked it down to a short in the printed circuit board on the instrument cluster. At least I know what it is now, and if anyone has this code appear feel free to ask questions.

I'm curious about that myself. I'm pulling down the front tonight to do a parts check and see what all needs to be done. The local pullapart has a tundra so I'm gonna go check for brakes. Back to the trouble code. I caught 2 instances this morning, where the reverse light stays illuminated...

Been thinking hard about doing this myself. I wonder if its possible get colored plastidip. Silver or something of that nature may match up with the bumpers pretty well. Looks great though!

Caesar, it doesn't not shift out to the correct gear unless I take it out of drive, and place it back into drive. And as I mentioned, its completely intermittent. Oh and the reverse indicator on the dash will stay lit at all times when this occurs, no matter what gear its placed in. Helicoil...

Just as an update, I did pick up the 4runner. Going through the records to see what needs to be done. I know the starter contacts need to be replaced, and I need to check the radiator/bypass the cooler, then check all suspension wear areas. As far as pricing, any kind of 4runner seems to hold...
