Seems like I'm replacing my stoplights about twice a yr. - must be a common problem.

I checked out the toyota fiberglass site and they were good to deal with - shipping quote to me in Pittsburgh for the gate panel was $41 or so. Mine isn't to the point I need the entire panel so I'm just glassing the areas myself.

I took my 95 4runner in for the recall and can say that it does improve handling- I think the charge was about $220 which Toyota picked up. I'd never heard of the problem prior to the recall

Sounds like your alternator may be bad - has it been replaced anytime recently? - I'd also check the connections from the wiring harness (from the battery) to the junction box - I had a loose connection that caused similar results for me years ago. I've had the same problem with my 95 - if you periodically spray down all moving parts on the regulator with WD-40 it will keep it functioning. White Lithium grease can also work.

My 95 has the same problem - its real common in the northern regions. I agree with fourwd1 about pursuing the body work instead of replacing the whole gate. Is there anyone out there selling panels for the gate?

Brand new here, wish I'd found this forum sooner. Sounds like the HG - mine went with only 80k on it. Its a 95 and I bought it w/50k back in 99 or 2000. The repair cost me about $1700 by the time the heads were machined, pumps were replaced, etc. but thats mainly because I went thru a dealership...
