1995 electrical problem

Hi guys!!

The problem I'm having is whenever I go to start my truck all of my electrical components shut down and there is a little click near the battery.

Then when I hook up a portable battery charger (one that you plug in and charge before you use it on the battery) it revs right up.

I have notice that a previous owner has jerry rigged ground wires all over the inside, including one off the battery to the fender and one near the alternator.

I'd like as much advice as I can.. I got a stereo hooked up - a Clarion deck with 2 Sony 10's and a RF Punch amp.

Funny thing: The ground wire is on the same circuit as the hot wire. Is that supposed to be right?

I'd appreciate as much help as I can get.

Thanks guys

Sounds like your alternator may be bad - has it been replaced anytime recently? - I'd also check the connections from the wiring harness (from the battery) to the junction box - I had a loose connection that caused similar results for me years ago. I've noticed that keeping those terminals clean helps alot too. Good Luck

Make sure your wires to the battery are clean and tight, the ground off the battery to the fender is right. Alternator?

You can take your alternator to most auto stores and they can test them for you.

the alternator has recently been replaced by a rebuild alternator...

My mom is getting me AAA and I plan on using my membership to the fullest and having it towed to a shop in Salem. I just hope I don't blow my AAA by "pulling" a trick on them...

still has not been fixed. I think it is a fuse issue. Dave brought home a volt meter tonight and tested the battery.

BTW - I live in Beaverton - Hebo is just my "legal" address.

Still looking for help. email @ [email protected]

Thanks guys

Melissa
