04 Option Availability and Keyless Question

Husker, thanks for the info. But even if it came with keyless originally, the PO may have been put something else in. Is there a red LED that flashes located to the left of the wheel on anyone elses 04sr5? thanks

04 Option Availability and Keyless Question

Brand new 4Runner owner... Picked up an '04 SR5 with only 36k miles this weekend. Is there a page somewhere that lists all the possible options for my model? Also, like many used cars, mine was sold without the fob. How can I tell if I have the standard alarm/keyless entry, or an...

quick question about rear diff lock...

Ron, are you only talking about the front diff lock? I'm looking at a '99 this afternoon. Should I expect to see the rear diff lock botton in the location left of the wheel? Thanks for all the help. Can't wait to get my new toy!!!

quick question about rear diff lock...

I'm shopping for a 4 runner and am trying to discribe to the sellers where this button is. I saw a rocker switch mounted below the left AC vent labeled, "RR Diff Lock" on a 98 LTD. It was no where near the shifter. Do you think this was an after market add-on? What's a good way to locate this...

    Ground Clearance Change Year-to-Year

Hail all, Was originally considering a Gen 2. For some reason I was under the impression that they were better offroaders. But I'm looking at the specs at http://www.edmunds.com/used/1995/toyota/4runner/4537/specs.html And now I'm thinking Gen 3 looks better: more hp/torque/mileage/ground...

    Automatic Trany Reliable?

I'm shopping for a late-model Gen 2, 4Runner. This truck will be a daily driver for the next 6 months, then it's off to Africa for a 6,000 mile rally. For the rally, a 5 speed would be best, but for six months in LA traffic, I'm thinking auto. My question is, has the auto transmiton on the...

2nd vs 3rd Gen for Low cost 4x4

Yes, I'm considering buying in Europe. Obviously, the logistics are more difficult. And I won't get much of a test run. But I did notice that they have diesel 4Runners. In fact I was surprised to find a classified ad for a very nice looking one in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, it's very...

2nd vs 3rd Gen for Low cost 4x4

Is there a place that lists the changes between the 2nd and 3rd gen 4Rs? Are there any advantages to the older trucks? Lighter maybe? I need a very reliable 4-by to do a 5,000 mile run across North Africa. I expect lots of dirt roads and some sand pits/dunes, but overall this won't be major...
