    Timing Belts Extreme Squeaking Noise

Had a chance to look under the hood today since the weather cleaned up a little. What I saw was not good. For some reason the pulley is extremely rusted. I'm sure that's the reason for the noise. But why did it rust? Shipping container salt? Water pump failure? And how do I fix it now is even...

    Timing Belts Extreme Squeaking Noise

So it's not a timing belt, but might be another belt instead? I've replaced the water pump at 95k miles also, so hopefully it's not that.

    Timing Belts Extreme Squeaking Noise

I've had my '02 4Runner for 4 years now, and it's been running great. Had my timing belt and other 90,000 mile services done at about 95,000 miles. I'm at 125,000 now and the timing belt is really squeaky literally every time I start the car. Now, there's a little catch to this. I recently...

Fog Lights Quit Working With New Bulbs

I put in a 20amp today (5amp higher then recommended) and it blows the instant I turn on the fogs. I did it just now at night and you can actually see the tiniest light as the fuse blows. I'm not sure what to do next. Before I got to the fuse I bench tested both the relay and the switch and...

Fog Lights Quit Working With New Bulbs

So it's just a blown fuse that's at fault here. I was advised to put a 20 or a 25 amp fuse with the Super Stars instead of the 15amp that was currently in there.

Fog Lights Quit Working With New Bulbs

Many months ago one of the bulbs burned out in my '02 4Runner fog lights. About a week ago I finally got a new set of bulbs from Burtman, the Piaa Super Star foglight bulbs, and a matching set of head light bulbs as well. All worked well for about a week but today the fogs didn't turn on at all...

    No running board love?!?!?!?!?

I bought my 4Runner with what look to be some aftermarket black tubular running boards. The towing hitch design looks the same as well. But I will never get rid of them. I use them entirely too much when loading gear into a skybox or kayaks on the roof. One thing I did have to learn is to...

    This looks very familiar!!! :-D

Wow, that's pretty cool. And thanks for the link, I learned a good bit about the 4Runners. Pretty excited to see what the 5th generation will look like and if it will really arrive later this year.

Boards finally off w/ some pics

It sure sounds that if you do off-roading - running boards off, and if you don't - leave 'em on. I bought my car used with some sort of an aftermarket black tubular boards. I use them every time I load up the roof rack. So mine stay on.

Fog Light Law I Didn't Know About

So I'm taking an online traffic school to clear up a ticket, not my proudest moment, but I have actually come across some stuff that was of interest to me. I saw a 3rg gen 4Runner the other day with just the fog lights on. My immediate reaction was that he had to do a fog light mod to make...

    Haha This made me laugh

I hate the fact that I'm in that 2% that experienced trouble with my Toyota. Had to replace the transmission at 60k miles which is totally unheard of. But almost 50k miles later everything seems just fine.

    Most recent trip

It's a single lane road, paved years ago over anything that stood on the way that goes some 10 miles into the mountains. It's always interesting to bump into someone coming the opposite way.

    Most recent trip

Just wanted to post a photo from my recent trip up to Lake Florance, east of Fresno, CA way up in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Camping was fun but COLD. I think this is the last trip this year.

    Hydroplaning is a scary thing.

Don't we have some sort of throttle limiter on the 4Runner prohibiting 130?
