Are you saying that with a 2010 - 2013 Trail it would damage the 4WD system to drive on a snowy/slippery freeway at 60mph for extend periods or time?
I am looking to buy a 5th Gen (previous 4th Gen LTD V8 owner) and was focused on the Trail model but I absolutely need to be able to drive in...
I would like to move up from the stock 265/60R18 tires to 275/60R18 tires on the stock wheels. Has anyone tired this size without a lift? My 'Runner has a .75" front lift so it is close to stock height.
The 275s are 0.5" shorter than the 265/65R18 tires that many 4th Gen owners use but I...
Wanted:
I want to buy a set (4 or 5) of 18" 4Runner Limited wheels (6 spoke, smoked finish) from the 2006 - 2009 model.
They must be in very good to excellent condition and include the center caps.
Must also be willing and able to ship in proper (i.e. safe) packaging.
Please PM or email me...
My rear air is working fine but I was hoping to get better handling and ride with rear coil springs.
Bilstein says their rear 5100 is suitable for 0-2" lifts so I could try the 5100s with the air bags before moving to the rear coils.
Ouch, that isn't the news I was hoping for :moping:
Have any forums members successfully converted from rear air to coil?
I would greatly appreciate any tips, hints or feedback.
I sure hope it is worth all the trouble and expense!
I am clearly confused. Judging by the Toyota parts diagram it looks like the XREAS V8 LTD uses rear air springs, not coil springs. Is this not true
I thought that I needed to buy non-XREAS steel coil springs for this conversion?
To recap.....I want to use Bilstein 5100s and COIL...
I am very interested in your used springs! Can you PM me?
You were able to reuse your parts because they were present on the vehicle :D I don't think the XREAS-equipped 4Runners have these parts.
XREAS + Rear Air susp removal - what parts are required?
I am ditching the XREAS on my '06 V8 LTD with rear "air" suspension (pic at bottom).
Bilstein 5100s will go in at all four corners.
In the front I will be resuing the OEM springs.
For the rear I plan to buy brand new OEM Toyota 4Runner...
Thanks to both of you for the replies.
Were your FJ spring installs on V6 or V8 'Runners, with or without OEM XREAS?
If only I knew exactly how much stiffer the FJ springs were vs the stock springs
Background....I want to remove the XREAS from my '06 V8 Limited and go to Bilsteins and coil springs all around.
While browsing the SPARKSTRD online catalog I noticed a reference to models "W Sport suspension".
Exactly which years and models were available with Sport Suspension and how was it...
Is there any new info to add to this thread? I see some guys using the 5100s now for the front and rear. I assume these are Tacoma or FJ specific shocks?
Here is my situation - 2006 V8 LTD w/XREAS that has too much body roll and nose dive, i.e. it needs better chassis control on the road. I do...
