Cooper Discoverer Rugged Terrain (Initial thoughts)

I've been running the Rugged Treks for over a year now in the stock size and XL load. They've been great overall. They were fantastic offroad the few times i've been able to try them out, mud and snow were no problem. Same thing on road, great performance in snow and rain, no worse than my...

Should I trade in for a new 5th gen or keep my '13?

Makes sense. Heat management has always been a thing, my celica has an alternator air intake, and the rally ones even had timing belt coolers because they were melting belts. I'd wait a bit to see how the motors are doing personally, but a turbo 4 wouldn't alone cause me to look elsewhere...

Should I trade in for a new 5th gen or keep my '13?

I'm in a similar position. My Trail has 200k on it. I ended up deciding that I'm going to wait and see what the 6th gen looks like. If it's a fair upgrade to what I have now then I'm all about getting a new one. On the other hand, if it's not what I'm looking for then I'll be looking for...

    Did the Floor Mats Change?

There is a different part for the 10-13 mats vs the newer ones, but I was under the impression that it was due to the mounting system they use.

    $10K KDSS Repair!!

I did a good bit of research on KDSS when i bought my '10 Trail and initially panicked because of the costs people were being quoted. After reading up on it though, it's really just a hydraulic system and really isn't more complicated than brakes. There are procedures that outline how to...

5th Gen Front Wheel Bearings - When did you replace yours?

That's how mine were, it was especially noticeable when the steering wheel was centered or just off center. My passenger one went around 170k and apparently my driver side one went around 100k according to toyota's records. $1300 is a complete joke for a wheel bearing. I'm not even kidding...

Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

I'm running this exact setup on stock sized Falkens and it has been great. The tires do look a little small due to the wheel gap sometimes but i don't care personally. I will say that the rear is pretty high, higher than expected, but again i'm fine with it. See pic, it's not the best one but...

Annual Winter Trip - open to T4R members located in VA/WV/MD/DC/PA

Did you guys do Canaan Loop/Flagpole knob last year? That was the trip 2 yrs ago and went well. I'd also be down for something in PA, but last time that didn't go great with the big group and permits, etc.

Annual Winter Trip - open to T4R members located in VA/WV/MD/DC/PA

Haha, I'm also back to check and see if anyone was interested in doing another trip. I missed out last year but would love to meet up with everyone this year again.

    CTHome T10 Head Unit coming?

I put the t9 into my '10 trail and i'm generally happy with it. It does have some hiccups like general software stability (maps crashed on the way to work today) but the functionality is a HUGE upgrade. If you do end up with one, definitely go through CTH, their guy in charge of them, Sevag...

    Camp Lights

I actually made a decent camp light out of 2 LED fogs i pulled from the junkyard, a dewalt 20v battery and a wireless relay. I 3D printed the housing for the electronics and the adapter for the battery so it snaps in like it was a standard dewalt tool. The idea is to hoist it up over a tree...

In need of help - aftermarket crossbars for TE

I made my own out of some 80/20 aluminum extrusion and steel channel. They aren't the prettiest thing but they are strong. The attached pic shows 2 of them along with the stockers. I have since removed the horrific lighting wires and am cleaning all that up/painting the crossbars, lol. I am...

Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Awesome, thanks for the info. So, with my 302s i'll probably go with that 1/2" of wheel height (1/4 on the strut) but don't exceed 1" of total extra lift (assuming 120lb of winch + bumper)? I figure in the worst case i'll just buy some stiffer and/or taller springs from you guys. I love the...

Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

This is kinda in line with a question i have, is it ok to run more than the 213mm preload height? I'm running the IMS setup with 302's and 50700s and am going to add a winch and lo pro. I feel like there's a lot of rake already (505s/50705's) and this is only going to make the difference more...

    OG 5th Gen 10-13 models

I've had my '10 Trail for about 9 months now and couldn't be happier. It had high miles (160k) but thats never been a concern of mine, and it is pretty obvious the PO took great care of it. I hope to get at least another 160k to put it on par with the 3rd gens my family has owned over the...
