Hey 3RZ... Did you or anyone ever post a tutorial on your 2nd gen maplight mod? In particular, how do you go about connecting the 2nd gen maplight wire to the door ajar wire? BTW, nice 4runner! I have a 2000 3RZ 5 speed. I'd love to have your build up especially the e-locker!

True there are many 3rd gens for sale, but replacing my 2000 4runner, 3RZ 2.7 5 speed. which I searched high and low for, would be harder than finding one with a V6. Plus, we have a kid now and I might wind up with a d#mn mini-van if my runner gets swiped!

Bump and additional question: did these flaps ever come stock on 4runners or were they only an option for people who wanted to remove the running boards? I might try checking with junkyards, but not if it will be like looking for a needle in haystack...

If you are talking about the maplights between the visors, I don't think those are designed to turn on and off with the doors. On my 2000 4runner, those turn off and on individually. The standard dome light is farther back, above the back end of the center console, with the traditional 3-way...

Except for the fact that it isn't as reliable and needs expensive timing belt replacements every 90k miles. But I would agree that 33s with the 3RZ motor, even with 4:56 gears, is not a great combo...
