    JBL Navigation Head Unit Broke

If you've already bought the oem replacement - good luck. Some people have had good luck replacing their JBL unit with a double din unit from a more modern toyota/scion - retain OEM looks but with updated function. At $200 you aren't too far off from a new unit altogether with Carplay/AA etc...

    4wd Actuator Teardown/Repair (Seized 4lo)

Awesome write up. I haven't (and hopefully never) had to do this, but I have looked into it just in case. There was some info out there, scattered amongst posts, but this is the comprehensive write up that was needed. Thanks!

    Previously installed leveling kit/lift?

Hi I was poking around under the car and noticed this, which I haven't noticed before. Is this some type of leveling kit or front spacer? If so, any other spots to look for other installed parts of this potential kit? Secondly - what's up with the difference in rubber between the two sides...

    Kenwood DDX9904s with Maestro questions

There is a thread on aftermarket radios in this forum that has a info on the Maestro. There is also a recent TPMS thread that mentions this feature on the Maestro - the guy posting there also says some of the other functions. Their site is hard to navigate and doesn't have a ton of info...

Transfer case rear driveshaft seal leak

Here is a good video from a similar car from one of the forum members mtbtim. Remember not to scratch the sealing surfaces of the seals. I can't comment on the bushing wear though. Transfer Case Output Shaft Seal Replacement - YouTube

    Whats this leak?

I agree with both thoughts in part PCV is probably a good routine maintenance, although my 167K mile PCV (which I think was original) looked and functioned great upon replacement. Definitely you (or the shop) should be tracing things up. It may be obvious in person that is coming from the RMS...

WTB: 4th gen V8 stock intake box and exhuast

As noted, looking for an OEM intake and exhaust that are in great/near perfect condition. The exhaust may be tough given the age and mileage, but hopefully someone has a spare airbox. Hoping someone has one sitting around! Airbox should be from a VVTI 05+ unit. The Exhaust can be from any...

    Aftermarket 4wd Actuator vs OEM

Good question. Maybe underuse? I suspect these are tested and should last as long as other components. I've never taken one apart to see where they fail. I'm a stickler for OEM parts, but in this case, I'd probably go with the Aisin branded unit. As others have said, that's probably the OEM...

    Losing coolant

No, don't add that stuff. Just rent the pressure tester and inspect the entire cooling system. There are several other places you can have a leak from, so try that first. Diagnose first, then fix or at least evaluate what it would take to fix.

    Losing coolant

The gas via coolant testers are ok, but I also have trouble with them. Pressurize the system and confirm. That's the best 1st step after inspection to look for any source of coolant loss. You can rent one from the parts stores. The borescope is a nice little add on there. You could also...

04 Limited with X-REAS suspension replacement

Interesting. Was there a way to assure they were removed in the proper way so that there was no fluid lost? Did you replace the 4 shocks only or did you also replace the center controllers as well? If you could share any and all details that would be great! A lot of folks are yanking out their...

Which engine cover for 03 V8?

I have the silver one (VVTI 2UZ). A quick search online shows the sliver one on VVTI and non VVTI models. They also need a pair of brackets that sit on the manifold.

    Remote start options in 2024

Hi all Searched some older threads as well as online in general. Looking to see what are the better options out there for remote start. I don't want anything that necessarily adds additional security. Ideally using the OEM fob to start (with the unlock/lock function still able to work once...

SAIS Check Valve Replacement 2008 4Runner 4.7L V8: Words of Warning!

I'm wondering why there was a failure despite having the bypass? Regardless, there are a few videos online and a thread here that are helpful. Good thread with a great linked video. Guide: Starter, Knock sensor, SAIP replacement 2UZ-FE VVT-i And forum member mtbtim recently posted his...

Mission Impossible - Air Mix Servo

What kind of clicking sounds are you getting? Is there a sound clip available? Also any other symptoms? A few mos ago I got a noise which went away - but to me it sounded more like a leaf or something caught in the blower since the cadence changes with fan speed.
