    V8 PCV valve replacement

Anyone able to remove the PCV valve on the V8? It's located in front of the oil filter and is screwed on pretty tight (seems tighter than the 20ft-lbs spec). Can't get it off and don't want to use too much torque to get it off. Thanks!

    Replacing Alternator in 2008 V8

I'm currently working on this and have a question. Why do you need to bottom out the VPA stud? I thought to remove the VPA, you only need to remove 2 bolts and the nut on the stud. The stud itself is torqued down to something like 16-ft-lbs already. You don't need to loosen the stud to...

    "05" Transmission oil change

I expect to get way more than 100,000 miles out of my 4runner (closer to 200,000-300,000). If you have the same expectation, I would recommend getting the transmission oil changed. It is a sealed transmission so there is no dip stick. There is a fill hole and overfill hole that is used to...

    shipping a vehicle cross country

Thanks for the replies. I called around a few places too, and got quotes of around $1000. This is for uncovered transport. I'm thinking about covered since my 4runner is new. I got a quote of $1750 and $2580. Still debating whether it's worth the extra $750 to $1500 for covered transport.

power bleed or vacuum bleed brakes

I did call them. They said they don't think it will fit, but are not sure. I ordered it this weekend anyways. I found a solution that will probably work. I'm going to get a replacement cap for the reservior and drill a hole in it and seal it with a pipe fitting and then connect that to the...

power bleed or vacuum bleed brakes

I have an 95 Camry V6 that needs its brake fluids flushed. Since I have an 07 V8 4runner also, I was hoping to get a unit that can work on both. I was going to get the Motive Universal Power Bleeder with 1101 adaptor, but have been reading about how the 4runner's reservoir is too large to fit...

    Coolant change questions...

SLLC is replaced at 100K miles and then every 50K miles after that. Not sure why the schedule changes after the first replacement - maybe QC is better at the factory. So if you replace LLC with SLLC, it seems that you should replace SLLC every 50K miles afterwards. I would just continue to use...

how to drain and refill sealed transmission?

jeober - wow, nice. that looks to be more complicated that i am willing to do. i may just drain and refill at 30K intervals instead of doing a full flush like you did. here's a picture from the FSM. they show the fill plug and overflow plug to measure the fluid level, but it doesn't show the...

how to drain and refill sealed transmission?

I have an 07 4runner V8 that uses Toyota WS ATF - supposedly, this is a "lifetime" fluid that doesn't need to be replaced. However, if one wanted to drain and refill, how to do it? The FSM only shows you how to check the fluid level using the fill plug and overflow plug. I don't believe you...
