Just picked up my first 4Runner

Nice looking ride. If it was taken care of and you take care of it you should get lots of care free miles. Don't forget to change the timing belt at 90k.

    Need help deciding

I appreciate the offer but I just wouldn't feel good about putting someone out like that. I don't mind paying to have it done. Thanks anyhow you are very generous,

    Need help deciding

Hi All, I have a 2000 V6 4x4 3.4 w/170,000 miles. I am the original owner, love it, and plan to keep it for many more years. It has never been off road and don't plan to take it off road (knock on wood:) ), it has always been serviced. After reading numerous posts regarding the pink milkshake...

    Kelly Blue Book

I have found that well taken care of 4Runners are so popular that the actual market is higher than blue book. If you really look at craigslist, autotrader, and other sites I think you will find the same thing. Selling in the spring/early helps too (think weather, graduation and students working...

Interesting conclusion to my Cat and CEL problem

Hi All, My daughter had my 2000 3.4 back at college in Kentucky. It had about 165k on it, Someone stole the catalytic converter (clean cut and did not harm the 02 sensors...gee thanks). After much deliberation I decided to replace it with an aftermarket CAT. Installed cost was about $350...

    Catalytic Converter Problems

Steve, I don't know if my input will help as I am not a good mechanic like several people on this site. But I will be making a post about my Cat / CEL issues today in a new thread. I have a 2000 3.4 as well.

So I ran out of gas today!....

I just returned on a cross country trip of 2700 miles in my 2000 3.4. In the midwest I was averaging about 16. I ran a can of seafoam through the tank and then got 20-22. I am not suggesting the Seafoam did the trick but it probably helped. I think the grade of gas was better as I made my way...

    Starting questions for a 99

I had the same issue on my 2000. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the starter contacts. A pretty common problem. I had about 140,000 miles at the time so I was happy they lasted that long. I had them replace the contacts and it fixed the problem.

Rookie Question RE: Check Engine Light

If the Check Engine Light comes on one day then shuts off the next day does that indicate the problem no longer exists until the light comes back on? If I take it in (Autozone) when the CEL is off will the diagnostics machine still be able to tell me what code came on anyhow? Thanks...

    02 Sensor Question

Hi all....newbie here....I have a 2000 V6 automatic. My daughter has it at college about 2000 miles away. The check engine light came on today so I told her to take it to Autozone and get the fault code so we know what is wrong. It has 160,000 miles and we bought it new and have serviced it...

    Fuel Filter Question.

Hi Guys + Girls, Newbie here. I have a 2000 3.4 that I bought new and now have 158k on it. I had the "lifetime" in the tank filter replaced at 135k. The dealer charged me $521 to replace it. I think I got hosed based on what I have read here. In reviewing previous posts it sounds like it is a...
