Rookie Question RE: Check Engine Light

If the Check Engine Light comes on one day then shuts off the next day does that indicate the problem no longer exists until the light comes back on?

If I take it in (Autozone) when the CEL is off will the diagnostics machine still be able to tell me what code came on anyhow?

Just wait till it is on then take it to Autozone. It it comes and goes it probably means there is a problem. If I recall correctly the diagnostic machine is free to use so you're not out anything.

Once a code is thrown it is stored in the memory until it is cleared. You dont have to wait for the light to be on.
