    Bilstein 5100s and FJ springs

5100s and FJ springs are a good plan. I ran a Daystar 2.5" spacer and FJ springs in the front of my 4R for about two weeks. It was too much front lift (3.25") so I swapped out the spacers for 5100s (at the 1.75") setting and FJ springs to get 2.75" front lift. The rear runs DS 1.5" spacers and...

4th Gen Front Lift vs. proper alignment threshold

Great, that's just the info I need so that when I talk to the shop we can reach a conclusion on how to align the truck. That being said, I just ordered a set of 5100s and I'll be taking about 3/4" of lift out of the front and getting a bit of rake back into it. Right now it sits almost exactly...

    Speed-dependent whine/buzz in cabin

All good tips guys, thanks. Funny thing is, in checking all your theories I'll probably end up finding other things that need TLC. If and when I locate the source of the noise I'll let you know. I really think it's an electronic gizmo under the dash but I've been wrong before, as my wife keeps...

    Speed-dependent whine/buzz in cabin

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm pretty certain the buzz is electronic but I was planning to go over the windshield seals anyway as highway trips will start happening soon. You never know, it might be something on around the glass.

    Speed-dependent whine/buzz in cabin

No, the stereo is the factory setup and it's turned off when the noise is happening, but that's exactly the kind of noise it is.

4th Gen Front Lift vs. proper alignment threshold

So I'm running both the Daystar 2.5-inch spacer and FJ springs on the front of my 2003 V6. Total lift is over 3 inches and despite a post-lift alignment the front wheels still have a visible negative camber. The truck drives great but my concerns are that the tires will wear unevenly and it just...

    Speed-dependent whine/buzz in cabin

My 2003 V6 makes an annoying mosquito-like buzz that varies with vehicle speed. It starts at about 10 MPH and increases in pitch as vehicle speed increases. It is not a function of either engine speed or transmission gear, which makes me think it is a digital speed sensor or transducer under the...

400 RPMs at idle??? Help please

My 2003 V6 suffers from a low idle whenever I disconnect and reconnect the battery. For a couple of days afterwards it idles at about 400 RPM in drive, then it eventually returns to normal. I'm not sure if there's a way to avoid this anomaly, but other than the low idle the truck runs great...

ARRGGHH!!! more than I bargained for.

It truly is the winter driving that is the killer to the undercarriage. The chassis pictures that some of you southern guys post make me dream about simply rolling underneath and undoing a few bolts without having Loosen All, cheater bars, a hammer, and a cutting torch waiting nearby.

ARRGGHH!!! more than I bargained for.

Hey, same story here man. Planned to do a spacer swap/spring install by myself in half a day, which ended up taking all day due to siezed nuts and general PITA moments. By the end of it I could barely lift my arms. Noticed that the RR axle seal is leaking and the RR brake is contaminated. Then...

To the DIY FJ conversion fellas

It wasn't difficult in a mechanical-know-how sense, but some of the nuts on my rig were rusted/siezed on which greatly lengthened the swap process. One nut, the inboard upper shock mount on the driver's side, was siezed on and I had to hammer it off over the course of one hour. Not fun. Still...

Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

I bought it a few months back and it didn't have the 4WD emblems. Maybe it's a Canadian market thing. I can't imagine someone up here in the Great White North settling for 2WD. This truck, with all the electronic controls, simply rules in winter driving.

Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

Ya know, I never paid much attention but I think mine is the only 4Runner I've seen on here that doesn't have a rack. I am a force of one! If my kid reads this he'll demand that I buy an ARB rack with lights just to fit in with the crowd.

Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

Thanks Will, I'm a blue-car kind of guy but when I saw this green T4R I really liked it. The truck came without a rack, just filler pieces in the drip channels, but I like the clean look plus I have no use for a rack quite honestly. With the price of gas up here the last thing I want is more...

4th gen- For all who've done the FJ swap....

Thanks for doing this data collection ARK_SWAMP_RIDER. I found it to be very handy information prior to doing my lift as follows: 2003 V6 SR5 4X4 2007 FJ springs and Tokico shocks Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer kit Average front lift with this combination: 3.25 inches Average rear lift with this...
