Since the BFG's 255/75/r17 fit perfectly without any rubbing I would have no use for spidertrax. I believe this tire was made specifically for the jeep rubicon. It it a different tread from any other mud terrain. I heard jeep had a joint venture with bfg to fabricate an off road tire with on road capabilities. It is much thinner than the 285's so consequentially there is better gas mileage. It is also much cheaper. I picked up this set used on craigslist for $350! Note the chicken strips that are still on the sidewall so i got a smoking deal in this crappy economy. I am always on a budget. Feel free to check more of my pics in my album with explanations. they are just the old bfg mud terrains. bfg mass produced them so they are still for sale. they might still be making them form the rubi's but you can get other mt's in that size.

2003 v6 sr5 4x4

Thanks everyone for posting to this site. I spent weeks reading most of the 4th gen. posts before doing the following to my 2003 V6 SR5 4X4:

2007 FJ springs and shocks
Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer kit
FJ Cruiser 17 x 7.5" wheels with 265-70/17 Michelin LTX AT2 tires

I ended up gaining about 3.25" in front and 1.75" in back with this lift combination. I really like the firmer ride with the FJ springs; talk about a cost-effective upgrade! Note that the FJ wheels are 15 mm offset and the original T4R wheels are 30 mm offset, so the FJ wheels fill out the wheelwells a bit better, especially on this early 4th gen with its smaller fender flares.

Thanks Will, I'm a blue-car kind of guy but when I saw this green T4R I really liked it. The truck came without a rack, just filler pieces in the drip channels, but I like the clean look plus I have no use for a rack quite honestly. With the price of gas up here the last thing I want is more drag! 'Course, lifting it 3 inches didn't exactly help...

The truck came without a rack, just filler pieces in the drip channels, but I like the clean look plus I have no use for a rack quite honestly. With the price of gas up here the last thing I want is more drag! 'Course, lifting it 3 inches didn't exactly help...

haha yea that 3 inch lift i think would be 3 times worse then a stock ride height with a yakima, but whats cooler, and more functional? i mean who uses a roof rack everyday? really?

Ya know, I never paid much attention but I think mine is the only 4Runner I've seen on here that doesn't have a rack. I am a force of one! If my kid reads this he'll demand that I buy an ARB rack with lights just to fit in with the crowd.

also i notice it doesnt have the '4wd" emblems. did you take them off or buy it like that?

I bought it a few months back and it didn't have the 4WD emblems. Maybe it's a Canadian market thing. I can't imagine someone up here in the Great White North settling for 2WD. This truck, with all the electronic controls, simply rules in winter driving.

Thanks to all that posted. I spent a lot of time getting information from here. I went with:

3/2 Cornfed spacer lift on stock XREAS suspension
275/70/17 BFGoodrich AT KO's
I really like the BFGs. They are aggressive, yet not loud at all on the road and highway. I wouldn't change much. Maybe I will go with wheel spacers. But I do wish that I could fit bigger tires on, there is still plenty of room for it. But I wanted a spare of the same size in the stock spare location. So this is the biggest I could go.

No wheel spacers and I am not getting any rubs. But I haven't checked the UCA, to see if it rubs there. I can fit the a spare in the stock spare location.

Edit: No longer have 3/2 Cornfed spacer lift install. Unhooked XREAS suspension and replaced with OME 3" lift Fronts with 885 coils, OME Rear 60020 Shocks and Toytec Light Superflex coils. Also installed Total Chaos Uniball UCAs.
