    Options for leaking Steering Rack

Thanks, I've referenced your videos for just about everything I've done. I haven't looked into the steering rack yet, but it doesn't seem like it should be too bad.

    Options for leaking Steering Rack

Well, you guys aren't very good at telling me what I want to hear! Sounds like I'll have to order a new one. Probably go with OEM as I intend to keep this truck for some time. Just put in bilstein 5200's, OME Springs, new valve cover gaskets, replaced timing belt and water pump, as well as a...

    Options for leaking Steering Rack

This is a photo a took a month or so ago, before it started leaking really bad. I haven't gotten under there recently to check as its been snowing and raining a lot and I just don't want to get under there ha. It is ATF, so its either the rack or the transmission, but I don't see any evidence...

    Options for leaking Steering Rack

Hey all! 1998 4Runner with 208k. My steering rack has been seeping for quite a while, but its never been an issue. This last week, however, it seems to have formed quite the leak. I would ocassionally get a spot or two on the driveway, but now there is a full on puddle underneath. It seems...

Utah peeps...now the official all things Utah thread

Anybody have a good experience with a shop to do an alignment? Just got done with my lift, looking for a reputable place to do the alignment the right way. I'm in South Jordan - If you know anything in Salt Lake or Utah Counties, that would be sweeet!

    J-shift transfer shifter bushing?

Are shifter seats run dry, or should it be packed with grease? Thanks!

That trail of oil can't be good...

Been a while since I had to have the whole front end of my $Runner rebuilt, haven't been around this site till recently when looking for another. Thought I'd post a picture of some of the aftermath. I ended up needing an entire new front differential and Center Differential, which put me out...

    AWD Transmission

Looking for another 4Runner after selling mine a couple of years ago. I had a 2002 SR5 Sport, which had the AWD center diff which I really liked. I have never driven one of the older 4Runners without the AWD, and I'm wondering if its really worth searching for an AWD version. I live in Utah...

No, It is far more than the boot simply popping off. When we lifted it on the lift the driveline to the front diff would turn, but neither of the tires would spin. We could spin both of the tires by hand. But thats just the diff. I'm in a whole other world of hurt with the transfer case as well.

That trail of oil can't be good...

Had to go out of town for work, just got back last night. Here are some pictures of one side. The other side looks identical. I am hoping today to figure out what needs to be done to get this thing driving again, aside from the front diff. It is my belief that the transfer case is having...

That trail of oil can't be good...

I'm working on getting it home right now and then I'll take some pictures. There's nothing to see on the t-case, everything looks fine from the outside. I did drive it to the shop this morning in 2wd, nothing wrong at all, no vibrations, grinding or anything of the sort. Last night when I...

That trail of oil can't be good...

Well this morning I took my Runner to a shop that was reccomended by a friend, since I never go to shops myself. He lifted the truck up and was pretty suprised himself to see what was going on. He climbed up inside, started it up and put it in 4wd. It clicked in just fine. When he put it in...
