    Odyssey battery confusion...help

The difference between 24 and 24F is that the terminals are reversed. 24F fits the T4R without modification, and yes, Odyssey makes one.

    Another Leveling/Spacer Question

Ride quality and spring rate are not affected by where you put the spacer. Once installed, the spring will be compressed the same amount by the weight of the truck no matter where the spacer is located. No matter where you put the spacer, in effect all you're doing is moving the spring perch.

Can I fit this IKEA wardrobe in my 4runner?

If it's a short distance and weather permits, is there any reason you couldn't just let it hang out the back and use a bungee cord to hold the hatch down against it? I haven't done that in my 4Runner, but I've done it with long items in other vehicles lots of times. Just leave the your window...

    $10K KDSS Repair!!

RobS10 has it right. KDSS has no magical ability to reduce nose dive. In essence, it really is “just a sway bar,” but one that is hydraulically actuated. Like any sway bar, the KDSS sway bar works as a torsion spring to resist differential motion between each side of an axle’s suspension. It...

    $10K KDSS Repair!!

Be sure to go barefoot. Shoes are nasty, complicated, failure-prone gimmicks. Laces can break suddenly without warning, and soles can wear out or fail entirely, necessitating an expensive repair or replacement.

Anyone tried mating FJ manual transmission to a 4R?

Yeah, the problem with any late-model trans swap is that the ECU relies on communication with the trans for so many aspects of vehicle function that you could never work all the bugs out. On another forum, I read an extensive thread documenting a guy's amazingly involved effort to do a manual...

Re-gearing feedback from someone driving at higher elevation

"S" mode can adjust shift points a little bit, depending on how you drive. In "D" mode, AI-SHIFT function is enabled. Computer logic adjusts shifting behavior to match what it thinks is your driving style. In "S" mode, AI-SHIFT is disabled and shifting behavior isn't affected. For drivers...

2014 SR5 High Pitch Noise on Highway

I've had this. There's a reason it sounds like a brake lathe. A piece of grit just the right size can get lodged between the backing plate and the brake disc, rubbing on the disc and setting up a screeching noise at highway speeds. It doesn't do any harm, and will work itself out eventually.

    (Another) KDSS Lift/Level Post

Ummm... Limiteds don't come with KDSS. They come with X-REAS. Whole different animal. Now you'll have to start your research all over again. Slow down, take it easy, switch to decaf. You'll figure it out.

Need advice Which Mobil One oil are you running?

As stated above, the correct answer, of course, is that it doesn't matter. However, you should feel free to join the official "oil OCD" thread, where you can discuss the phantom benefits of one type of oil over another to your heart's content. 400 posts and they still haven't reached a...

    Are strut spacers bad?

Nope, like most people, you're hung up on the idea that coilover's height or amount of spring compression prior to installation means anything. It doesn't. Again, with the weight of the vehicle resting on it, the spring in the coilover will be compressed exactly the same amount no matter how...

    Are strut spacers bad?

You aren't dense. The people who persist in perpetuating the "preload myth" are. I thought the "preload myth" had died a deserving death years ago, but like a bad virus, it just keeps coming back. There's no such thing as "preload" on the T4R coilover. With the weight of the vehicle resting on...

    Post lift concern

The way you describe the vibration sounds more like tire imbalance, and 50-60 MPH is the prime speed for that dreaded malady to occur. Did you change anything about the tires/wheels when installing the lift? Even just rotating the wheels front to back can bring out a vibration that wasn't...

    Paralyzed by indecision on tires

All true. It's why all threads like this are essentially pointless. But people seem to enjoy the exercise, pointless though it may be, so I've learned not to rain on their parade.
