    2002 SR5 4x4 Rear Diff Failure

Singtoe, I'd like to pick up the housing this weekend if possible and tackle the swap next weekend. PM'd you but not sure they're getting to you. Shoot me a PM, email or call me. Tony

    2002 SR5 4x4 Rear Diff Failure

Fortunately the tires will be cheaply replaced (Discount Tire) under warranty ... already talked with them. Good point on the seals, was thinking that too. You're right ... it is a good deal. I can do it but it'll be quicker and easier with help.

    2002 SR5 4x4 Rear Diff Failure

I was making measurements after looking at the tire wear. About 3/4" narrower measuring across the front of the rear tires vs across the rear of the rear tires. About 1-1/4" less c2c of axles on drivers side vs passenger side. If you put a straight edge across the side of the rear tire it...

    2002 SR5 4x4 Rear Diff Failure

The Saga Continues ... I put new coils on quite a while back which helped a lot. Tires were done so all new tires and an alignment. This was just under 6K miles ago. Well about a week ago we realized the rear tires were toast! Mostly outside wear on both tires. Little worse on the drivers...

    Rear Coil Advice - 2002 SR5 Sport 4WD

Ordered up the OME 2" lift kit. The soft rear shocks, p/n 60028, are back-ordered and will ship later but the rest is headed my way. Thanks for the advice all. Tony

    Rear Coil Advice - 2002 SR5 Sport 4WD

Good catch ... I think you're right. The rep on the line told me the 60027's were out of stock and that's what I wanted because they were softer than the 60028's but looking again at the web site I'm seeing the opposite. One of us is confused. I'll call back again tomorrow.

    Rear Coil Advice - 2002 SR5 Sport 4WD

Well I called Toytec today intending to order up the OME 2" lift kit but the 60027 shocks are back ordered ... probably a couple weeks out. Haven't seen that kit elsewhere at that price with the assembled front shocks/coils. Anyone know of any other sources or options? Not in a huge hurry but...

    Rear Coil Advice - 2002 SR5 Sport 4WD

I know what my son wants to do ... he just doesn't know it's an option. I think going with a mild lift, all new coils and shocks, makes the most sense. We have a few issues to deal with but I expect this 4Runner to be part of the family for a long time. Looking athe the OME from Toytec I'm...

    Rear Coil Advice - 2002 SR5 Sport 4WD

Thanks. Are the rears both the same p/n, 48231-35210, or are they separate as well? Could I get by with just stock height rears or do you think all four should be replaced? (1) Now I'm debating just doing the rears at stock height ($150) -or- (2) All four coils at the taller '99 height (approx...

Thanks guys. I went ahead and ordered up the '99 tall coils.

    Rear Coil Advice - 2002 SR5 Sport 4WD

I've been searching through some threads but still a bit unclear. Weak rear coils need replacement but there are a lot of choices and seems like nothing available locally. It's been suggested to get the taller '99 rear coils. I posted a WTB in the classifieds (after looking there). Toyota...

    2002 SR5 4x4 Rear Diff Failure

Extremely satisfied customer. Singtoe went above and beyond!! Swapped the drivers side rear axle and swapped spider gears from his diff to mine and all the other associated work, in my driveway! Both the VSC and TRAC lights have been coming on since a short time after getting it a few months...
