Taking apart the front differential question

Hi Malcolm, thanks for the reply. I eventually figured this out by watching a whole bunch of videos on youtube until I found what I needed. What I ended up doing was drilling a hole in the broken shaft, tapping it then putting in a bolt and pulled it out. It worked pretty good and went...

Taking apart the front differential question

Hi All. I have managed to break my cv axle on the right (passenger) side of my 2002 4runner. It broke off inside the differential tube though (see pictures). It looks like I should be able to take off the right side of the differential without pulling it however, does anyone know if the...

    Diagnosing ABS/VCS system problem.

Is it possible that I could have damaged an ABS speed sensor tone ring but still not have an error code? Vehicle: 2002 4runner Symptoms: when in AWD and starting out slow, the truck goes into limp mode, once I gain a little bit of speed things work fine. The road surface does not matter...

    Driving without a front strut

Hi All, I have broken, destroyed more like it, one of my front struts towers. There is very little holding things together on top right now. I am not able to fix it for a few days (Tuesday) and I was thinking about removing the one strut so that it does not completely break through while...

Welding to Diff Housing / pumpkin

Well overall the repair went smooth. I had to replace both brackets. I am not much of a welder but I am happy with my work and it does the job and it seems secure, I gave it a few light hits with the hammer and it did not move. I will clean up the axel some more and give it a protective coating...

Welding to Diff Housing / pumpkin

Awesome thanks. I did not think there was really any concern as I just welding a piece to hold the brake line in place, so nothing major. And yes, like you said, I will keep the settings for the metal I am using.

Welding to Diff Housing / pumpkin

Hi All, on my rear axle, on the pumpkin, I have manage to break off the support bracket for brake line. I was going to just customize a piece and weld it on. Is there any thing that I should be concerned about other than keeping the settings as low as possible on my welder (flux core)...

Energy Suspension Upper Control Arm bushings shot after 50k miles

I did my rear control arm bushings and after about 65,000 KM half of them were worn out. I asked Energy Suspension about why they would wear out this quick as most of my driving is on the highway and the only answer I got was to make sure they are greased well.

light bar wiring issue with high beams

I can do this however I was hoping to control the light with my high beams, one switch instead of two. I had put one on my wife's car as she does a lot of night driving on dark roads and it works perfectly fine tapped into the high beams. Not sure what my issue is with the 3 volts when I start...

light bar wiring issue with high beams

HI All, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction with an issue I am having. 2002 4runner with DLRs. I wired up a small light bar and tapped into the high beams for switch power (passenger side). When the vehicle is off everything works fine, the light bar comes on with the high...

Tough time installing rear Bilstein 5100's

Put the top of the shock in place, then use a jack on the bottom to keep it compressed and it can be adjusted as needed. I used a small bottle jack to do this.
