08 Headlights flicker, stereo cutting out, occasional alternator whine

Over the last month or so, there have been 3-4 times that I'm driving home (2008 4Runner) and my radio cuts out. It automatically restarts and then cuts out a few minutes later. When it's been dark, when I pulled my car into the parking spot, I notice a very fast flicker to my HID lights. Often...

    bilstein 5100 rear snapped

Turns out some rust developed around the thread and then the shock separated there. Seller says Bilstein won't cover since it's been 9 years and there's rust everywhere, but a lot of those spots aren't rust, just oil/dirt  I'd expect them to last longer but oh well, already bought and...

    bilstein 5100 rear snapped

just saw this randomly. am visiting beach so not a lot of repair options. thinking back, truck seemed to bounce a little longer on big highway bumps. is it crazy to drive 5 hours home on this in a few days? i doubt i could get replacement shock in time anyway and i don't want to pay for two...

rambling questions about tire size and lift

This does look good, I will admit! An idea to consider when I do want to get to 33". Gotta get a feel for how they look from the front and back though!

rambling questions about tire size and lift

Thanks a lot. I was going back and forth so much but my tires are 7.5 years old with a couple of nails stuck in them - I had to finally make a choice today. Went with BFG KO2's (C-load) but at 265. I am glad to hear the added weight was not too bad on the v6. Part of why I went this route was to...

rambling questions about tire size and lift

How do you like your Falkens? My thinking at the minute is keep my size for now and go KO2 or Falken, depending on how pricing sorts out. Costco carries the BFG which is nice. Both will be a lot heavier than my current tire but I think that doesn't cause too many issues

rambling questions about tire size and lift

Hi there! Used to lurk here heavily back when I put my lift on back in 2013. It's time to replace my tires and I am so torn between going to 285's or keeping with the slightly bigger 265/70/17. My main concern with sizing up is that I have a v6. I don't get great gas mileage, but I have a...

sunroof leaking up front but front drains not clogged

Hi guys- I park my car on a slight downhill slope. Often when it rains a decent amount, I will have water leak through between the small strip of headliner and the front of the sunglasses holder. Initially it was one of my front drains being plugged. I would blast it with air and pour water...

Flowmaster 50 Series - Delta or SUV

I got the Super 50 Delta haha. The naming was all confusing. More importantly, it's the 52557 model. I also took the resonator off and "dumped" it so you can't see any exhaust pipe. There is zero drone or increased sound cruising at highway speeds or really at all above 30 mph. At low RPM's...

    mounting kayak 1500 mile trip

4Runner filled to the brim with all of my stuff! Anyway, because I know the forum was waiting, breath bated, to know what happened... I was able to push the skybox over just a hair more, which was enough to mount a Thule J-cradle rack. Made 14 hrs today, no problems. Except calculated gas...

    mounting kayak 1500 mile trip

those trailers are $372 minimum, plus extra weight and just a more "difficult" trip, i felt was a little overkill since i can get everything else in my car. but i definitely looked into it!

    mounting kayak 1500 mile trip

It is an option - but I really like my kayak, and I'm also moving in 4 days so I wouldn't get much for it. If I had considered this plan earlier, yeah. I'm afraid the sideways mounts still don't have enough room with that huge box on there, but I will double-check, thanks! I've decided to nix...
