Oh yeah still works great Doc. Yeah I thought about getting that one too...I'd really like to see some of their products in action before I make a decision though.
Has anybody tried the XM adapter from Vais with the NAV system? They said it will emulate the cd changer mode, but I've never heard any mention of it on here. This is the only setup that I've seen that will allow and aux input with an integrated xm kit.
One more question...aside from the vais and coastaltech adapters for the ipod, which would both, in theory, work with XM using the y-adapter on the 05 NAV...are there any cheaper alternatives that will allow you to add an ipod along with the XM setup discussed above? For instance, just a plug...
I have no idea. I would guess that it would be just as difficult to track it down as it would be to just take the dash apart and tap into it back there.
Assuming the 98 is just like my 96, and I'm almost definate that it is, you have to pry out the little panel where the HVAC controls are. Behind it you'll find two screws that hold the dash together. Once these are removed it should pop loose fairly easy.
The factory amp in my 96 was mounted inside the dash behind the cd deck as best I can recall. I would say that mine had it because it had the in dash cd changer, but I would be surprised if one with just a tape deck would be amplified.
