I'll try jumping the terminals in the test connector and tell you what happens. I sure hope it isn't the AFM. Thank you, Tim

    Electrical problem

Want to find out what possibilities are for my electrical problem. '87 t4r 22re manual. Starts and dies. Replaced fuel pump, tried spare ECU and ignitor pack, problem still exsists. Traced power to the fuel pump, good power but only when key is turning the starter. No power to pump with key...

    87 t4r and 12 code problem

Thanks Turbo, I like the idea of just drilling and tapping to create a port. The first of problems was not knowing the location and second where to create one if needed. Would just shorting the knock sensor wire keep the code from returning? BrandX, now that I know what kind of port to look...

    87 t4r and 12 code problem

I would if there was one there. That is the problem, it would seem that the 22r that was used to replace to original equipment does not have a knock sensor installed anywhere. Without stripping down to the block itself, I have not been able to locate the sensor on the block. Tim

    87 t4r and 12 code problem

Hello all, Here I am again asking for help. I seem to have a pretty unique issue with my 87 4runner. 22re that seems to have been replaced prior to my purchase. Problem with the 12 code is that it indicates for the knock sensor. After an intensive examination, cannot locate the knock sensor...

Stingers, do you mean the sump in the oil pan? If I read you right, you are saying that the timing chain tensioner had come apart and ended up in the oil pan. Or is there another sump that I am not aware of? Sorry, but I am not much of a mechanic and have to move slow here. Thanks, I will be...

No, the starter is strong, new battery. Pulled the alternator a week ago and it checked out. Could it be different with a load on it while running as apposed to testing it on the bench at the auto parts store?

I don't know if this will help, but I just started the 4runner and left it at idle. After several minutes of not touching a thing and an engine temp of about 150 it just stopped running. There is still fuel and spark because it started again, but only started then died. Scratching my head here.

    Newbie needing some guidance

Hello all, I've been lurking around here for a bit since I purchased my 87 4runner last October. 22re manual with 134,000 miles on it. It hasn't given me too much trouble until recently though. So what I have read so far has given me a lot of knowlege for future projects and maintenance...
