    Need help with missing engine

Are you sure it's a miss? If it's not throwing a code, it's not likely a sensor. Try a can of BK 44 (available in most Toyota store parts departments) in the gas tank. It took care of a similar problem in a Camry I once had.

    Should I Buy This One?

What dealers ask and what they get are two different things. This unit should actually sell for no more than 12 absolute tops. The "books," especially now relative to SUVs, are pretty much irrelevant.

Announcing the sad demise of our 99 4runner - with advice needed

Take the 11K and be done with it. You might net more than $1500 if you parted it out but that's a hassle. Could you sell whole for more than that? Maybe, maybe not. Again, it's a headache.

    Loose Console Trim

Does anyone have information on how the trim plate that surrounds the shifter and 4wd drive lever is to be secured to the base of the console? My son's is loose at the rear (popped up, so to speak) but snugged down properly at the front (dash) end. This is on a '98 Limited.

    check engine light

Hook a code reader to it, find out what the problem is, and rectify the issue. Many auto parts stores will read it for free for you. Or you can buy a code reader for well under $100 (got my son one for Christmas for $50 on sale).

    headlight adjustment

According to the Haynes repair manual, when viewing the backside of the headlight housing the horizontal adjustment is to the upper right and the vertical is to the lower left. In the accompanying photo (in B&W) these two light colored screws contrast sharply with the dark color of the housing.

    Is this a good deal

That's a fair price. It's well worth grabbing if you can buy it for even less. You might check re-built supercharger prices because they don't last forever.

    '97 LTD... Newbie needs help!

Does it have the extra cost security system (VIP-RS3000)? If so, it may be having a glitch. My son's has it and the doors lock when the vehicle is started. I believe it can be programmed to engage the locks in different ways.

    Need Prepurchase Advice

As others have said, he's high. Actual high-end selling price of such a unit should be less than 10K on a private sale. For 12.5 you can pick from newer ones.

    Another Timing Belt Question

Well, having weighed the pros and cons, it's now in for a new timing belt at 121K. Two factors were decisive: 1) It's 10 years old (a '98) and my son will be taking to back to school with him in Oklahoma in January where the heat is likely to be tough on it; and 2) The Toyota store is...

    Searching for a 3rd gen...

Choices for bad leather are not great: 1) Buy new material from Toyota (way expensive); 2) Have an interior shop replaced bad panels (expensive); or 3) Get seat covers (wide selection/pricing available).

    Newbie Needs Help Buying 4Runner!

I just went through this in buying one for my son. As you have no doubt noted on ebay (and/or elsewhere) there is huge difference in pricing between a '97 and an '02, so you budget may well in large part dictate your course of action. It's nice to talk about how one year or model is more...
