Troubleshooting brake issue - experts needed

Thanks everyone! I hope to have some time over the holiday to try and take another look. Master cylinder was something I had thought of also - was hoping it was something less complicated lol

Troubleshooting brake issue - experts needed

Hoping to get some help troubleshooting my brake issue as I don't have much experience in this. Haven't worked on my 4R as much as I would have liked or the knowledge to do so. -Started noticing what felt like slightly longer stopping distances a few months back. Didn't have that "push you...

2000 Limited 4x4 Manual Transmission Conversion

Amazing build! Great looking results on the repaint, you did this yourself at home? Man I would love to get mine repainted.

4runner Bilstein 5100 actual lift dimension w/stock spring?

Those stats sound about right. I put on 5100s and set them to max height for the heck of it and went with FJ springs in the rear. From center-hub to bottom fender I get approx 21.75" fronts and 22.5"rears.

Creaks and squeaks - just 'old man' problems

Off topic question - but how did y’all get your truck picture and “stats” at the bottom of y’all’s posts like that? I can’t see where to do that under my profile.

Creaks and squeaks - just 'old man' problems

IÂ’ve attempted spraying wd-40 on the sway bar end links, r&p links, and the the bushings I can get to but so far no improvements. I did notice the UCA rubber boots are torn. Would that cause the sound assuming the grease has run out of them?

Creaks and squeaks - just 'old man' problems

R&P was swapped out 2-3 years ago? Do they usually change ps fluid when replacing those? If they don’t they it hasn’t been done in a long time then. I assume there’s a small leak somewhere in that system tho since I’ll have to “top it” every couple months.

Creaks and squeaks - just 'old man' problems

Not sure if it's something with too many variables to try and figure out, but just thought I'd ask if anyone had has similar symptoms. We moved out to AR this year and car ran ok during the summer/fall. It's a little colder here than in TX and once it got chilly I started noticing some creaking...

Do I need to replace the rear drum(s)?

Haha, looks like I'll be doing the same! Got it! May just get both and figure out what fits/works - but I'll be retaining the old drums! Thanks mtbtim! Very helpful as always - really enjoy your videos also!

Question re: the standard 16 inch wheels

Agree with the posts above. I had a set of stock 15s & Michelin LTXs that I was able to sell for $175 to a guy building an old Toyota P/U but they sat for a while before they moved. If you got the space and price them about right they'll move.

A possible solution to leaking axle seals

Thanks for the idea WayneM. It's not a solid diagnostic method, but I did try moving the wheel while it was up on the jack and there was hardly any 'wobble' unlike those examples I've seen on YT where bearings were needing replacement, so hopeful I can get a little more out of them. I was...

A possible solution to leaking axle seals

LOL, for some reason while I had the truck up I didn't think to check the other side sensor - but thanks for the clarification. I'll order a couple seals just in case it is leaking I'll be able to replace both seals at the same time.

Do I need to replace the rear drum(s)?

Hi members! Question for those of you with much more experience than myself- I'm planning to attack my first 'major' job and replace the rear axle seal that's leaking - unfortunately on a budget so unable to properly do this we an axle re-build, so fingers crossed a new seal holds me over for a...

A possible solution to leaking axle seals

Thank you mtbtim! I may try that then and save the OEM seals for when it can be done with flipped retainers (found OEM seals from Camelback Toyota for $8/ea). Is it ok to just replace one side or do I need to replace both seals?

A possible solution to leaking axle seals

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but wanted to ask: Brake drums have some darkened areas on them and collecting dust, to confirm it's leaking I pulled the ABS sensor as seems to be the gold-standard and yes it's wet. Would it be worth my time replacing the seal (OEM new design if part# ending...
